Argo (2)

British label, founded in 1951 by Harley J. Usill and musicologist Cyril Clarke.
Label Code: LC 0115 / LC 00115
Initially specialising in "British music played by British artists" it then became a label primarily specialising in spoken word recordings and other esoteric or commercially marginal material. They also released a large amount of classical recordings, focussing mainly on choral works.

Due to financial problems, Argo Record Company Ltd., was taken over by The Decca Record Company Limited in 1957.

Please do not confuse with the American Argo Records label.
