DOCdata

DOCdata N.V. was a Dutch optical disc manufacturer. The company was first established in 1982 and initially focussed on developing a method for storing large amounts of data on tapes. In 1986, through its sister company DOCdisc, DOCdata started manufacturing machines for the replication of compact discs. Despite its promise, business never really took off and in July 1991 the company went into receivership. Not much later in the same year, DOCdata, which was listed at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, was taken over by the Optical Data Storage Company, which owned Europe Optical Disc, a pressing plant in Tilburg, The Netherlands. As part of the takeover deal, ODSC's pressing plants were placed under the DOCdata umbrella.

DOCdata had branches outside of the Netherlands during different periods in Germany, France, the UK, and the USA (DOCdata New England in Sanford, ME, and DOCdata California in Canoga Park). In 2002, DOCdata pulled out of the US market. DOCdata New England, Inc. was sold to the local management in March, while DOCdata California, Inc. was sold to Rainbo Records in April.

In 2011 DOCdata N.V. announced that it would sell its CD- and DVD-replication activities, known as DOCdata Media Group, to Replifact-Media B.V.
