At first created as a Harmonie CDr sublabel in 1999, taâlem was reborn late 2001 with a new aim: exploring the different sides of ambient music through 3"CDr's only.
Each release came with a printed artwork on the disc and its slim crystal jewelcase.
A netlabel section was added late 2006.
Relocated from France to Belgium in 2014.
The 3"CDr series was stopped late 2021 after 143 references. A new CD series was started in September 2023.
