i'm glad i checked the comments here on DISCOGS. now i know i'm not alone. i've tried placing orders just for digital downloads, and haven't been able to do so for many, many months. i wish they would either fix their bandcamp page, or remove it.
Damn I wish I had come here before to read the comments. I also ordered several times over six months for a total of 250$, stayed really patient after each new order and no update. I tried to reach them through Bandcamp and Facebook, I can see the messages are read but then forgotten or ignored.
Quite infuriating since the money was spent and the music is exceptional, but I don't hope to see the items anymore now.
Has anyone here gotten updates since then, may it be from the label or from Paypal concerning a refund ? I would be happy to know what to do exactly, because I can't see myself endlessly shooting fire in hope for an answer.
I have to say, despite the problematic nature of this label's business tactics, it's still one of my most treasured investments. Within the sonic experiments of this label are some of the greatest musical journeys I've been taken on, I hope and pray to hear more!!!
The lack of communication is dumbfounding. It makes you feel all the fraud was intentional. How they are allowed to keep selling on some platforms is criminal. Probably one of the saddest and strangest record label stories of all time. Considering how loyal their fans were, the label has a lifetime support. Squandered because of no communication. Is it a health issue? If it is, I do not think anyone would even believe it. Now, that's sad.
Its not just the missing releases either. He charges more than double on any shipping for cds. And the times you paid separate for buying items, they were so delayed they generally got shipped together. 3 to 5 items at a time. So he pocketed shipping money the entire time. So greedy and unorganized that he didnt even realize it. I inquired about it four times and got ignored each time.
Overlook the music and the entire last 7 years of the label is a pure scam. Dont buy from him. No integrity
I dont have much value to add to the comments already there, but I also payed for some releases and never got anything. I am surprised that their bandcamp shop is back up and running. they should be banned still. this is already going on for 4 years now. I can understand people having problems with releases, but how they handle communication, which is basically non-existent and ignoring everything, its unacceptable.
[Echofraud] Detroit. Scammers of the first degree. Took a couple of 100$s and never sent my last orders. Was promised Gold and What Not once every 9 months, but no. Nothing. Who said thieves couldn't make good music? Of course they can, this is a fine example - Rot in Hell, boys!
Ripped me off for $40 back in 2019 and never delivered an album.
edit: So I finally got an email claiming that my order was shipped, three months ago now. Didn't give any tracking. Order failed to materialize. They aren't responding to requests for tracking/proof of shipment. Multiple other orders from multiple other artists and labels have delivered since. And each and every one of those sellers provided tracking. Funny that, actually being delivered orders that were provably shipped. From this label, I have no album, and no tracking to prove it was shipped. Interesting, no?
At this point I can only conclude echospace are, in fact, liars, cheats, and charlatans, and if at some point long past they did have a salvageable reputation, it's completely dead now.
Echospace took six months to send me a pair of what they called "rare, Japanese import CD-Rs" for which I spent $40.
Because I had the audacity to ask—and receive—bandcamp.com's help in attempting to resolve Echospace's intransigence? Am banned via software from downloading anything from bandcamp.com, from now on.
Must admit: a lot of their music is extremely good. After about two years of being angry, and thus unwilling to buy their stuff?
Managed to find a few CD-Rs from sources other than bandcamp... ...and if—as seems likely—bandcamp.com did not directly profit from those purchases? Because they were from extremely-distant and unrelated retail operations selling them at unusual discount prices, or (OTOH...and very much so) individuals selling them for considerable $$$s on discogs.com? Yeah. I can deal with it. And...yeah, I'll probably never be able to buy any additional ones. But I already own 23 titles! That's quite enough...I'm fine.
Have been a fan of Modell's work since the '90s. Don't feel any personal grudges against the individuals. But as an organization: hey, if you're going to accept people's money? You have a responsibility to provide the products you promised, in exchange. Simple as that. To do less is somewhere between unprofessional and fraudulent.
Compared to some of the horror stories here? Sounds as my luck was somewhat better: relative to what others experienced.
