Dream Catalogue is one of the leading and pioneering labels in dreampunk, a highly conceptual ambient genre with roots in vaporwave. In the label's early years they would release both vaporwave and dreampunk, but gradually moved towards releasing primarily dreampunk, ambient, techno, and various non-plunderphonics works. Despite the label's shift, and distancing, from its vaporwave roots, it is still largely considered one of the leading vaporwave labels.
The label has gone through several shifts throughout the years. These changes can be temporary changes in ownership/management (either to real or fictional people), brand identity changes, on and off of Bandcamp, defunct and running, and so on; many of these changes end up being reverted within months or weeks.
