Seraphim

Profile:

EMI-owned classical label; tagline: "Angels of the highest order."
Label Code: LC 00044.
A product of/sister label to Angel Records focused on reissues and historical classical recordings from Angel Records, early Capitol Classics, EMI and previously unavailable titles. The budget classical line for Angel Records cost $2.49 per record. The label was launched in the U.S. on 6 September 1966, with an initial release of 20 albums (seven of which were stereo).
Also issued "performances hitherto unreleased in America by Angel artists" (as stated on S-60085).

Manufactured and distributed by Capitol Records, Inc., in the U.S.

The Seraphim label was also used in Japan and Italy for budget-prices reissues, previously released on the La Voce Del Padrone label. Please note that many Italian Seraphim releases also carry an EMI logo. EMI should not be added as a label; however, as the EMI logo merely indicates that Seraphim formed part of the EMI Group, not that EMI was a label itself.
