  1. Hurts - Happiness

    197 For Sale from $0.68

Life affirming and gorgeous. The track 'Wonderful Life' should win an award for lifting your spirits. The production is top-notch and wraps around you like a shiny comfy blanket.

  2. Adele (3) - 21

    110 For Sale from $15.87

Yes, almost everybody knows this album, but singing out loud to 'Set Fire to the Rain' will blow away the fog and lift your confidence. Just don't try this in a shopping mall.

  3. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

    121 For Sale from $13.81

It's old, but the Beatles pushed the boundaries in recording. Some of the sounds here are the result of them asking "why don't we try this?...". Plus the tunes are fun for kids young and old.

  4. alt-J - An Awesome Wave

    27 For Sale from $17.65

It's a short journey from the Beatles to Alt-J, but what a bizarre journey. The harmonies are similar, there's the same English whimsy, but these guys throw your expectations. 'Dissolve Me' is happy radio fodder. In contrast, 'Bloodflood' will tickle your Aspie ears.

  5. Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, M.A.A.d City

    95 For Sale from $6.00

Yes, he says the F word. But listen closer. Kendrick raps about mental health issues, alcohol & peer pressure, and the underlying message is 'you deserve better'.

  6. Beach House - Teen Dream

    27 For Sale from $3.96

Carefully crafted dream-pop recorded in an old church. The cheap keyboard sounds and off-kilter playfulness just begs you to draw closer.

  7. Björk - Debut

    26 For Sale from $0.50

Icelandic weirdness? Yes please. Most of this album is easy to digest, yet it's wrapped in a 90's indietronic vibe that leaves you wanting more.

  8. Tatsuro Yamashita - For You

    25 For Sale from $105.00

Often cited as the album that inspired City Pop and Vapourwave. Labels aside, this sounds like Stevie Wonder meets FM radio with a Japanese twist.

  9. AIR - Premiers Symptomes

    9 For Sale from $10.89

French electronic soundscapes that pre-date 'Moon Safari'. Less commercial but far more immersive and soothing.

  10. Slowdive - Souvlaki

    3 For Sale from $376.47

Often rated as the best shoegaze album ever. This has stood the test of time, offering a perfect blend between indie pop and reverb-soaked haze.

  11. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool

    44 For Sale from $8.82

Thom Yorke sounds wiser & more relaxed with age. There's a cloistered introspection here that rewards repeated listening. 'Daydreaming' is the perfect Aspie anthem.

  12. The Boy Least Likely To - The Best Party Ever

    28 For Sale from $0.68

Imagine a 5 year-old's favourite party songs, recorded in the style of The Kinks. Except with sad disturbing lyrics.

  13. Arcade Fire - Funeral

    61 For Sale from $1.59

Simple, quiet and healing. Note to the band: sometimes less is more.

  14. Bowery Electric - Beat

    2 For Sale from $19.00

Rare US trip-hop blended with shoegaze. Dark in places, but with enough MBV influenced guitar drones & reverb to beckon your attention.

  15. The Fin. - There

Japanese indie dream-pop. There are touches of shoegaze here, which always gets my vote. Compared to their previous work this sounds fleeting and impressionistic.

  16. DJ Cam - Underground Vibes

    6 For Sale from $17.65

Also known as 'Mad Blunted Jazz' in the USA. Laid-back French hip hop interspersed with the sound of rain.

  17. Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue

    14 For Sale from $40.00

Jazz for people who don't like jazz. It's not simply about the notes, but the space between the notes. 'Blue in Green' feels like standing on a jetty in a cold autumn drizzle.

  18. Jean-Michel Jarre - Zoolook

    63 For Sale from $2.76

Groundbreaking French album that used samples from wild animals and foreign languages. The first track may scare anxious kids. They will love the rest.

  19. Oddisee - The Beauty In All

    2 For Sale from $13.82

Instrumental hip hop that ticks all the boxes. If you have Asperger's this will definitely leave you lost for words (in a good way).

  20. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Exodus

    21 For Sale from $3.53

Reggae seems an odd choice for Asperger's, but the rhythm & upstroke helps you focus. 'Three Little Birds' is guaranteed to make you smile.

  21. Sigur Rós - Takk...

    76 For Sale from $0.69

The band's most chilled album. Their other albums are worth hearing, but this is a seamless journey of bliss. Like being lost in a foggy Icelandic forest.

  22. Baaba Maal & Mansour Seck - Djam Leelii

    7 For Sale from $8.24

Gentle soulful music that takes you to a distant village in West Africa. You'll swear you can hear the crickets.

  23. Great Lake Swimmers - Bodies And Minds

    13 For Sale from $0.79

What a voice! A rustic folksy album that makes time stand still. You probably won't get through all the songs, but who's counting?

  24. Bonobo - Animal Magic

    16 For Sale from $1.38

Ambient house from the Ninja Tunes label. Exotic instrumental beats and Asian chimes that take you to a far away place.

  25. Jon Hopkins - Immunity

    22 For Sale from $6.89

Deep glitch-techno that gives way to gorgeous ambient beats. The title track and 'Sun Harmonics' offer the perfect escape from a busy world.
