Best Australian/New Zealand Rock Bands

It took a long, long time for Australian/New Zealand rock music to reach the ears of the rest of the English-speaking world. Many excellent Australian/New Zealand artists produced wonderful songs during the 60's and 70's, but, because of the tyranny of distance (no internet, no MTV), and poor management and marketing, the vast majority of these artists never received any significant attention from USA & UK radio DJ's. The absence of the internet and MTV also meant that Australian music always seemed to be one or two years behind musical trends in the USA/UK.

Here is a list of the best Aussie/Kiwi artists, some famous, some now obscure. Many of the albums listed are rare and highly valuable collectors items.

Before anyone asks.....no, the Bee Gees were NOT Australian, they just lived here for a few years (59-67), when they were in their adolescence. They returned to their homeland of England once their first major single 'Spicks & Specks' hit #1 on the Australian charts.

My list leaves out a lot of popular artists from the 90's to 2020's - mostly because, by then, rock music had become bland and predictable. I just lost interest. I also left out many popular dance-pop, hip-hop/r&b, reggae, country, death metal, and jazz artists, because I dislike that music intensely.
