CDs manufactured by LaserVideo / Disctronics / Disc Mfg. (USA) (my collection only)
updated 27 days ago
1986–1988: LaserVideo Inc. operated plants in Huntsville AL and Anaheim CA; no way to distinguish(?)
1988–1990: separate plants identified in matrix as DISCTRONICS (H) and DISCTRONICS (A); use Disctronics H or Disctronics A
1990–1997: separate plants identified in matrix as DISC MFG., INC. (H) and DISC MFG. INC. (A); use Disc Manufacturing, Inc., Huntsville or Disc Manufacturing, Inc., Anaheim
1990–2003: Plano TX plant identified in matrix as DISCTRONICS USA or DISCTRONICS TEXAS; use Disctronics USA.
Other US CDs mentioning Disctronics without a plant ID, use Disctronics Group, United States.
Other US CDs mentioning DMI or DISC MFG USA, use Disc Manufacturing, Inc..
SID codes apparently debuted in late 1995.
USA/Texas SIDs seen so far: IFPI L791–L793 / 2Dxx
Huntsville SIDs seen so far: IFPI L801, L804 / 2Fxx — These continued to be used after Cinram took over. But also see Group 2 of my unknowns.
Cinram bought the Huntsville & Anaheim plants in 1997. The Plano plant was formerly Memory-Tech Inc.. In 2003 it spun off as DiscUSA, then in 2008 as U-Tech Dallas, before closing circa 2010; see other list for those time periods.
Sometimes people misinterpret the parentheses in (H) or (A) as angle brackets.
Sometimes (H) is (H5); the 5 is an ID for the LBR. (ref: https://www.discogs.com/help/forums/topic/357616 )
Some of the later ones (e.g. from 1996) don't have (H) or (A) but do have a SID code like IFPI L804 in the same font as the rest of the matrix.
