In somewhat order (I tried to keep the artists together while still putting it in order of what I rated it) some of my favorite releases of all time

  1. Car Seat Headrest - Teens Of Denial

This album stands out a lot to me specifically because it helped me get through some hard times, but theres a ton of great songwriting, lyrics and instrumentation throughout this thing. I don't really know much of what to say other than it's probably my favorite album and the record is just good enough on it's own that I don't need to tell you how good it is
    10/10

  2. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

This record took me way too long to listen to. Everything about it is beautiful, from the soft instrumentation and vocals to the great songwriting. There isn't a dull moment on this record which is really impressive given the length that it is. Would definitely recommend listening to the whole thing all the way through
    10/10

  3. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell

Sufjan pulled it through again fully encapsulating what the loss of someone feels like through the music and lyrics working together. I love this project so much
    9.5/10

  4. Doom* & Madlib - Madvillain - Madvillainy

One of the best produced, consistent, and hard-hitting rap releases of all time. I always have fun with this release whenever I put it on.
    10/10

  5. MF Doom - MM..Food

Doom pulled it together again on this release with a bunch of sick beats and great bars throughout.
    9/10

  6. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

This record is a masterpiece from the ideas behind it, to the singing, to the instrumentation. It truly is a wonder to behold and if you haven't I strongly recommend listening to it
    10/10

  7. Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island

While not as good as ITAOTS, this project does feature a lot of the same qualities that it's followup had. Definitely think this record should get more love
    9/10

  8. Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts

This was my record of the year for 2018. It showcases some of Kanye's best product and rapping to date, and Cudi sounding the best he's been since MOTM. Truly Kanye and Cudi rising to complete artistic potential and showcasing it beautifully
    10/10

  9. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

Imo the best Pink Floyd release, with a lot of beautiful songwriting on Shine on, a lot of lyrical depth on Have a Cigar and Welcome to the Machine, and the timeless piece Wish You Were Here. Truly showcasing how talented and creative this group was
    10/10

  10. Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother

Definitely a piece by this group that is too often overlooked. The opening 24 minute instrumental is captivating from start to finish as well as great songwriting put into the 4 following tracks. Something I wish a lot more people would show love to
    9.5/10

  11. Death Grips - The Powers That B

In my opinion the experimental hip-hop group's best work to date with the first half (NOTM) featuring a lot of weird glitchy bops littered with samples from Bjork, and the second half (Jenny Death) featuring a lot of booming guitars and fantastic lyrical elements and songwriting. Truly a masterpiece
    10/10

  12. Death Grips - Year Of The Snitch

I love how they really changed up their sound on this record straying from their usual hip-hop oriented stuff to more industrial rock. Incredibly showcases the group's versatility and mastery they put into each project
    9.5/10

  13. Swans - To Be Kind

This trilogy is one of my favorite pieces in all of music. The way they were able to create such powerful impacting and lengthy bodies of work while still keeping it consistent and interesting is amazing to me. To me To Be Kind is the pinnacle of these releases featuring a lot of sticky grooves, fantastic songwriting and gargantuan builds that just make for a really impacting experience. Definitely recommend listening to the whole thing if you haven't already
    10/10

  14. Swans - The Seer

This release is what originally started off this trilogy and it features yet again a lot of fantastic songwriting and immense builds, I just felt like some of the grooves were just a bit less sticky than To Be Kind. This record is still phenomenal in every aspect and I'd recommend it to almost everyone
    9.5/10

  15. Swans - The Glowing Man

This is the record that brought the trilogy to its conclusion, and what a great conclusion it was. The ending of this record is beautiful and impacting on deep level, again I just felt like some of the grooves weren't as sticky but still an amazing listen and a phenomenal body of work
    9.5/10

  16. Fishmans - Long Season

A good friend of mine told me to give this a listen, and I was though roughly surprised by how deep the instrumentation was and how it was able to keep me fully engaged throughout the whole listen. Would also recommend the live album this group did
    9.5/10

  17. The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics

One of the most fun, trippy, and best psych rock albums I've listened to. While this does have a lot of sentimental value as well this thing is just a great listen throughout.
    9.5/10

  18. The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

This is the album that brings me back to when I was in third grade and it's a great feeling for me. Really more personal taste than anything.
    9/10

  19. Tyler, The Creator - Scum Fuck Flower Boy

Tyler spent a lot of time and effort into making this record amazing, and it really shows. It's filled with a bunch of great hooks, beats and charm that Wolf had but just with better production, and more thought put into each track
    9.5/10

  20. Tyler, The Creator - Wolf

I really enjoy this record, with it featuring a lot of synth beats and some of Tyler's best rapping. It's full of charm and it really is just a Tyler record
    9/10

  21. Jeff Rosenstock - Worry.

In my opinion Jeff's greatest album to date. Features a lot of really fun pop/punk songs that I can listen to and love again and again and again.
    9.5/10

  22. Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy

I love the redo that they did of this album but the original is really a landmark in indie music from the raw instrumentation to the amazing lyrics and songwriting this record is fantastic. Definitely recommend checking out both versions of this record
    9.5/10

  23. The Mountain Goats - The Sunset Tree

My friend gave me this record for Christmas this year, and I'm really glad they did because this project is really lyrically captivating and it just sounds amazing
    9.5/10

  24. Clown Core - Toilet

My friends and I stumbled upon this EP thinking it was hilarious because of how they put saxophone into digital metal music that features Kenny G samples and really...interesting videos to say the least. But the more I listened to this, the more I realized that these people actually showed off a lot of talent in their songwriting and playing while also able to make me laugh at how weird the concept is. If you have about 13 minutes I would definitely recommend giving it a listen even if it is a somewhat memed EP
    9.5/10

  25. Panic At The Disco* - Pretty. Odd.

This is on here mostly for personal taste. The feel of this record brings me back to my best days in middle school with it's beautiful horn and string sections featured on some of the tracks, and just an overall enjoyable record
    9/10
