DJ Patrick Discographies - Talking Heads / Tom Tom Club

Ongoing full discographies project.
Includes Tom Tom Club, but DOES NOT include Byrne / Harrison solo work (yet).
Still need to listen to the later TTC material.

  1. Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues

NEW WAVE PARTY BOMB. So good one can forgive the group (mostly) abandoning the post punk sound of Remain in Light.

"Swamp" is a weakass track though.

  2. Talking Heads - Remain In Light

RiL's A side is arguably the best recorded TH material. Deep post punk vibe begun on certain Fear of Music cuts. The tracks take a minute or two to sink in, but once they do, prepare for some heady groovers.

  3. Tom Tom Club - Tom Tom Club

Very solid synth pop / new wave / post punk record.

  4. Talking Heads - Fear Of Music

Semi-solid record. Beginnings of the short-lived post punk period.

  5. Talking Heads - Talking Heads: 77

Decent debut that's a bit moldy with age. The cheesy children's music sound that would haunt later records is nascent here.

  6. Talking Heads - Naked

Not a great record by any stretch, but not terrible. Exemplary of late-80s US indie, and better than much of that sound. We should all be thankful the band went out with this rather than Little Creatures or, Lord help us, the True Stories LP.

  7. Talking Heads - Little Creatures

The group takes a soft rock turn for lackluster results.

  8. Talking Heads - True Stories

It's like, I don't know, They Might Be Giants children's music or something. Awful.

  9. Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food

Absolute worst TH material. Like viscerally bad. Terrible terrible terrible record; hard to believe Eno worked on it.

  10. Tom Tom Club - Close To The Bone

Very very bad, very very twee outtakes from the s/t TTC record. A few of the remixes from this record are worth having.
