Dance-Era Hot 97 in New York (1986-1993)

The dance years of WQHT Hot 103/97 in New York City prior to its transition to where hip hop lives towards the end of 1993, completing its transformation by the spring of 1994. I made a previous list chronically how dance-leaning top 40 stations sounded during that time period but that list ended up being about top 40/dance as a whole as it included tracks from other stations (such as Power 106 in Los Angeles) that were played during that era. It ended up disorganized and I had to start this list by scratch.

This list is specifically about pre-hip hop Hot 97 sounded. There's a few dance cuts from late 1993/early 1994 included as well. Also included are tracks from the defunct 1987-1993 syndicated dance countdown show "American Dance Traxx" that aired on Hot 97 and other dance/rhythmic stations of that era, plus a few tracks from 1986 or 1987 that were played on LA's Power 106 that may had also been played on Hot 103/97 as reported playlists don't show up on any of the radio trade magazines until around July 1987. I'll try to organize this list based on the year the songs came out or when they were played during a specific week.
