Memorable & Influential albums (1976-1999).

1976 - 1999. "This is a collection of songs/albums I listened to/bought at the time of their release (or within a couple of years.) Into Kiss in 1976 when I was 6. The 80's ended with The Pixies but it started with Adam Ant.
Duran Duran, A-Ha & Howard Jones were there for me throughtout the mid 80s. Arcadia's So Red The Rose is the epitome new romantic album. Hip-hop & breakdance started filtering into Australia through film soundtracks. I was obsessed with The Rock Steady Crew. (In retrospect their music may not have been that amazing but they were early hip-hop culture pioneers.) 1985 was a big. Run DMC were making hip-hop happen. Sigue Sigue Sputnik's Flaunt It along with Dogs In Space. Then Butthole Surfers (Psychic... Powerless... Another Man's Sac was released in 1984??!!) but I hadn't heard about them. Equally hard to believe is the first Violent Femmes album came out in 1983. I didn't get into them until artschool in 1988 'round the same time I discovered the Buttholes, started smoking pot and experimenting with acid. In the Sixties people were trippin' to Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and The Doors. In the 90's I was trippin' to The Pixies, Butthole Surfers & Ween!".
*Not included in this list are the many albums I was listening to that weren't "just released", 60s & 70s classics released from bands like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Doors, etc." FK (CC)
