First records ever bought

  1. Kiss, Gene Simmons - Gene Simmons

Radioactive was the best track. I started to become a complete-ist when I got all the solo records. Now I have more KISS than I need to have. Damn you Gene Simmons!

  2. Kiss, Ace Frehley - Ace Frehley

I purchased all the solo stuff at a favorite record store in Decatur, Ga. Circa 1978. Only one that really hit me was Ace's... Although Gene's had Radioactive..

  3. Kiss - Dynasty

KISS's disco record. I was young enough at the time to not really care that it was so disco. KISS began marketing to kids my age and it worked.

  4. Kiss - Rock And Roll Over

Finally discovered a KISS record that rocked. And had a cool cover. I drew it over and over.. My Mom finally was nervous about KISS being one of my favorite bands back then.

  5. The Knack (3) - Get The Knack

I remember I had to have this for the song My Sharona. I had no idea what it was about, but I needed it. Too bad it was the only highlight from that album.

  6. Eagles - The Long Run

Among the first records I ever bought. I can still see that Turtles Records and Tapes in my head. Somewhere around Atlanta, Georgia.

  7. R.E.M. - Lifes Rich Pageant

First R.E.M. album that I actually bought. First heard of them from my brother (from Athens, GA) when he mentioned his friends band just got album of the year in Rolling Stone over Michael Jackson's Thriller.

  8. R.E.M. - Document

Second R.E.M. album bought. I still knew that Murmur was supposed to be their best album, but didn't want to discover that until I heard these 2 "lesser albums" (not that I believed at the time.)

  9. R.E.M. - Murmur

Finally got Murmur (third to purchase) and understood what all the hype was about. I was already a fan at the time. And by now I didn't care that my brother knew them. They were already impacting my life..

  10. R.E.M. - Green

First R.E.M. album I bought that hadn't already come out. So I was expecting this one. By this time I finally realized my brothers connection to the band and got him to get me tickets for the Green Tour. Saw them twice on that tour. Once with Pylon, once with Drivn n' Cryin.

  11. 10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe

    33 For Sale from $3.37

    Bought 1987 or so

  12. The Cure - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me

    16 For Sale from $5.00

An 80's survivor. I remember getting this one and loving the whole album, but only tolerating Hot, Hot, Hot...

  13. Elvis Presley - The Real Elvis

    33 For Sale from $1.25

I practically grew up with this record. My Mom bought this when she was younger. It is a wonder that it remained in decent condition through the years. I remember finding it when I was in high school. I immediately took possession of it. Ha

  14. They Might Be Giants - Lincoln

    23 For Sale from $22.00

Once I heard Ana Ng, I had to have this. Circa 1988. Video made me believe that if I knew John and John in real life, we'd be pretty good friends. Unlike some of the people in other bands that I still liked.

  15. Fetchin Bones - Galaxy 500

    37 For Sale from $1.99

Saw them in Jacksonville Beach at Einstein a go go February 13, 1988. I bought a shirt at the show. My brother and his friend took me and we met the band since they were once on the same label. (DB records) I later bought their record at Specs music (more than likely) at Belair Plaza in Daytona Beach.

  16. Talking Heads - Little Creatures

    74 For Sale from $7.99

Discovered years after purchased (circa 1986) that Howard Finster did the artwork. Then learned R.E.M. connection

  17. B.J. Thomas - Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head

    207 For Sale from $0.19

I consider this the first record I believe to have ever played. I never actually bought this record till I was well in my 30's, but I remember as a little 4 or 5 year old (maybe younger) sneaking into my elder brothers' collection to play records. I don't recall knowing what I was doing, but I do remember hearing this song that I put on the turntable at a very young age.

  18. The Reivers - Saturday

    47 For Sale from $3.36

Saw them at Einstein a go go in Jacksonville Beach Florida March 12, 1988. Came back home and found their record at Specs music at Belair Plaza in Daytona Beach. Bought it and it became a steady play during my late teens early twenties..

  19. Metallica - One

I remember I had to have this song.
