The Lost Mixes & Uncredited Works of Shep Pettibone
Some of Shep Pettibone's projects mentioned in various publications never saw the light of day or were released without his name credited on the final commercial versions. These cases illustrate the unpredictability of the music industry, where announced collaborations can remain unreleased or be altered before their official release.
Below is a list of works where he was mentioned as an artist but remains unreleased, uncredited, or mislabeled to this day :
- According to Cash Box magazine (August 3, 1985), "Mix consultant" Shep Pettibone had been signed to compose the score for a film called "Roc Mercy". However, since no record of a film by that title from 1985 can be found, it is possible that the project was never released or that it was ultimately released under a different name.
- On September 7, 1985, Cash Box magazine reported that Shep Pettibone had been working at New York's Shakedown Studios, mixing three tracks:
🎧 Platinum Blonde – "Cryin’ For You"
🎧 Phyllis Nelson – "You Talk Too Much"
🎧 Prefab Sprout – "When Love Breaks Down"
However, out of these three projects, only the Platinum Blonde remix was officially released. The mixes for Phyllis Nelson and Prefab Sprout remain unreleased, leaving their existence a mystery.
