As wonderful as the original PEACE ORCHESTRA album was, the remix collection seems to go a different route. Whereas the original was deep and moody, the majority of the mixes (Guillaume Boulard, Soulpatrol, Truby Trio) here go for upbeat jazz. The Gotan Project deliver a mix of "Shining" that's definitely all theirs, except for an intro that essentially takes the original and sets the recording level way down low under their own percussion. Beanfield go electro-jazz on "Meister Petz," while DJ DSL takes a cut-up jazz hip-hop approach to "Double Drums." Both Raw Deal and Zero dB apply some house-tempo breaks to their respective mixes, while Chateau Flight takes a darker electro path with "Who Am I." A Kosma mix of "The Man" also goes that darker path, though with a more traditional jazz feel. A worthy companion to the original, even if the original is definitely superior.
