- Edited 6 years agoI just ordered this and can't wait to hear some of these chestnuts! According to an interview I read a while back via the outstanding Super Deluxe Edition blog/site with Piet Blank, this is the *first* time since the original 12" release that anyone has used the original master of "Where Did Our Tainted Love Go" :-) as I call it. He stated the master was still sealed after all these years and hadn't been checked out. It's great to see these guys going the distance to attempt to find the masters as well as the cover art where humanly feasible.
Arnaud3 mentions Fleetwood Mac's Jellybean mix of "Everywhere" was sourced from vinyl. I just cannot imagine what a time consuming endeavor and a labor of love these so80s comps were to source from all over the world. Eventually someone will figure out where that master is, unless WB didn't want to release it, or they lost it like all these other record conglomerates have done over the decades each time they move, or are bought and sold. - Good point : Blind Date it's the master even if the last 30 years damaged a bit the sound quality, the EQ is not stable especially if you compare left & right channels and big noise all over the track I have a better quality with my vinyl. Shakatak ! it's also the master first time on cd ! the normal time of the vinyl is around 7'00 even if credited 7'40 on the label. We have 7 or 8 seconds more in this cd with an unreleased outro .... the difference of 7 seconds is due to the tape reader speed, around 1,3 % too slow compared to the vinyl. The Cure I think it's the first time with this sound exactly like my vinyl, on USA CD of Hi-Bias they added stereo enhancer. Sade is from the Australian cd 12" mixes but Blank & Jones forgot to reverse the left & right channels, on the Australian cd the channels are reversed. The bad points are Fleetwood Mac it's a vinyl rip but I must have to say it's a good job, finally Chris Rea horrible sound !! unacceptable.
