- Ilkae's BRING EXTRA DRAGONS fits comfortably in IDM's "twee" category, though its perkiness never turns grating. Instead, tracks like "Soda's Theme" and "Smok Ballet" effervesce quickly and without fuss. With fractured hip-hop beats ("Cinnamon Dragon Blues") or without ("Promenade"), the running times here are short and sweet, which means that a melodic idea never overstays its welcome. The rhythms lean towards the titchy side, avoiding low or harsh tones, so the mood, for the most part, stays light. But "You're a Slow One, Little Bear" and "Motto Hiryuu Motte Kudasai" both go a slightly more melancholy route -- it's like remembering last year's flower garden. "Equate with Oxen" gets things swinging again with tempo changes and a spry little melody, and "Exit Theme" takes the album out on in a video game frenzy. Nifty.
