So i have a question.
The promotional message said litteraly : "Beware of hallway noises.
Soon the new 45 rpm and MJ's album".
So it's in 1987 and the album come in 1982 🤔

11,855,398 worldwide copies of all CDs, vinyl records, cassettes, and digital copies!!!!!!!!!!!! That means it's the best-selling Michael Joseph Jackson single!!!!!!!!!!!

‘Thriller' is the seventh and last single from the album 'Thriller', released on November 2, 1983 (and 3 months later in the US on January 23, 1984).
The composition is written by the late Rod Temperton. Initially - as we all know - the title was 'Starlight', but changed to 'Thriller' in the studio after Michael told Rod that the song should also appeal to children. The hook of the chorus first was "Starlight, starlight sun" and that eventually became "Thriller, thriller night".

At the end of 1983 the late sound engineer Bruce Swedien mixed a few versions for the single release:
- America got the Remixed Short Version (4:08), a new mix without the intro and rap of Vincent Price.
- Europe, Australia and Japan got the Special Edit (4:40), which is the LP version without the intro and with the first verse of Vincent Price's rap, ending in an instrumental fade.
- Worldwide 2 versions of the 12 inch have been released. One is the 12 inch with the LP version on A and the instrumental version on B. The other version had the Special Edit on A and the Remixed Short Version on B.
- Finally a 7" promo for American radio was made with the title ‘Thriller (With Rap)’ (5:12). That's the LP version without the intro, a shorter prelude and with the full rap by Vincent Price. Contrary to popular belief, the '2003 Edit' that debuted on the 2003 compilation ‘Number Ones’ is not this 7" promo, but a montage of the intro of the Remixed Short Version with the rest of the LP version. The casual listener won't notice, I’m afraid...

More versions of ‘Thriller’ have appeared: Live at Wembley (1988), the David Morales & Frankie Knuckles remix (1992), the voice-over session of the (full) rap by Vincent Price on 'Thriller Special Edition' (2001), the Immortal version (2011) and the occasional remixes in 2008 and 2017 commissioned by Epic. But those are not part of the original period single mixes:

4. Thriller (Special Edit) (4:40)
5. Thriller (With Rap) (5:12)

This information is not specifically referencing the UK 7" Single, Epic A 3643, EPCA 3643, but to all the vinyl 1983/1984 releases on the 'Thriller' master page.

I have a variant of the 12" that I can't find listed here. "XSS-169545-1H" is in the runout. I'm assuming it's a Carrollton Pressing since that is more common. Can anyone advise otherwise?

This disc ( Michael Jackson / Freeez - Thriller = Emocionante / Iou ) should be included in this general reference ( Michael Jackson - Thriller ). Can a Master Release do it?

This version, which indeed lacks the Epic & CBS writing in the bottom of the label edge, was also used for the picture sleeve edition.
