- Fantastic pressing, one of my best sounding records. Huge soundstage, punchy bass, amazing clarity and detail.
- First I need to say that it is cool that Kraftwerk always did at least two versions of their songs, here in German and English!
"Der Telefon Anruf" or "The Telephone Call" have that kinda sad feeling to it, although they're songs which you are supposed to move your body to. ;)
The synths sound like a charm and overall this single makes fun to listen to. :) referencing House Phone (12", 45 RPM, Promo) 12EMIX 5602
Just bought a copy of this & the A side is actually The Telephone Call (12" Version) and House Phone is on the flip with Der Telefon Anruf (7" German Version), just as with the commercial release....so it’s really just a white label of The Telephone Call (12") 12 EMI 5602.
House Phone is mainly comprised of the great Karl Bartos ‘Numbers’ beats (The origin & backbone of nearly all subsequent electro), maybe a response to the ‘Planet Rock’ ‘Numbers’-“borrowed” beats?- Edited 19 years agoOne of the best Kraftwerk 12" releases in my opinion. You can hear Kevorkian really getting to work here, drawing out the duration of what are some of the deepest electro sections of any Kraftwerk tracks, with more overall depth and content to it than his "Tour De France" remix. Nice to have the German speaking version on here too. Although all 3 versions are great, it's the latter half of the A-side track where those less inclined towards camp vocals will be heading to blend those squelchy bass sounds and crazy telephone call samples into their sets. The B1 version has no singing in it, but misses out on that bass, which is a shame as it would otherwise have been the winner. That said, the A side is long enough that just playing the last half of it will suffice.
