Anyone know the story behind this? Seems odd to press a double 7" of the EP in 1997.- Anyone else feel that "demins and curls" is one of the chameleons best songs? so rich and packed, no wasted anything. every part of that song.
- Has anyone compared this to the orig Glass Pyramid? I have one of the originals and thinking of buying this.
- This is a fantastic Vinyl pressing, Sound so crisp and sharp, no drop outs, absolut brilliant remastered for vinyl. An absolut brillant release.
- This EP is a damn shame of what could've been. In my humble opinion their best, most cohesive work up to date. Two things could have happened if they got to finish this thing, one - they would create a timeless masterpiece on pair with Joshua Tree, The Queen is Dead, Synchronicity and others, two - they would record 5 or 6 more filler tracks and the whole record would be average at best (ZZ Top's Afterburner comes to mind). So, the way i see it, sometimes it's better to stop and give something unfinished but timeless than force your way to finish and deliver so-so product (like Why Call It Anything). Listening to Mark's following work on The Sun And The Moon and also Reg and Dave on The Reegs the quality of songs doesn't come anywhere close to "Tony Fletcher". So the conclusion is that they either burned out all of the sudden or could not create "magic" working separately (which makes sense because The Reegs didn't have a good vocalist and The Sun and The Moon missed the intensity of the The Chameleons).
- I was given 2 copies of this CD in 1991 when Mark supported The Stranglers at Leeds Warehouse. I was the DJ that night and played "Up The Down Escalator" after his set. He came up to the DJ booth to thank me and handed over 2 copies of the CD. I sold one the day after for £40 and still have the other one.
- Edited 14 years agoVery great. In extreme synthesis, in my opinion, this ep could be considered a concentrated of their sound, then this is their best work.
Chameleons one of the best bands of our time. p.
