sorry for a comment that isnt quite on topic of discussing the release. I Dj'd on same night as Stacey Pullen once and as a consequence, Stacey signed my copy of this 2xlp. Over the years it has gone missing. I have sold one or two job lots of vinyl at times and i think i wasnt rigorous enough checking what was there. I would come to an amicable solution if any one out there has this and would consider re-uniting me with it. It is signed 'To Alex...' i will qualify the exact details if i get in to a convo with anyone. It means the world to me and every time i think about I get a bit annoyed with myself!

Decent deep Detroit Techno, well worth a listen on a rainy Sunday, all these years later.

It fascinates me the exchange between Europe and the US (specifically Detroit). it's almost as if one pushed the other.obviously you have, slightly previous to this, the second generation of Detroit techno, pioneered by Carl Craig in my opinion aswell as Underground Resistance.but before that was Derrick May,Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, thought of as the 'first generation' who were in turn heavily influenced by Kraftwerk.if you dig a little deeper then you will find out that kraftwerk were influenced by James Brown (ok,not Detroit but across the pond).
Alot of people regard James Brown as inventing dance music.perhaps true.
One has to wonder who influenced James? He was both a tyrant and a genius who's demand for perfection shaped what we all dance to nowadays.respect to all of those mentioned above, you made a real difference.

The best work from Stacey Pullen.
So beautiful melodies and so beautiful arrangements.....
But you have to listen carefully, its no "easy listening" Techno for elevators.

The beautiful album "(The Theory Of) Silent Phase" made by Stacey Pullen (1995) under the homonimous Silent Phase alias was acclaimed by the critics with releases on two essential labels of quality-underground dance music: Transmat (USA) and R & S (Belgium). Stacey defines the singularity of his masterpiece with the quote: "I lived in Europe around the time 'Silent Phase - (The Theory Of)' was conceived, and I had plenty of European influences on that album. But at the same time, I was teaching the Europeans about Detroit's worldwide influence."

"Psychotic Funk", "Electric Relaxation" and most of all "Meditive Fusion" are tunes that deserve the intense listener's very special attention. Stacey puts together on all of them his funky & soulful-futuristic perspective.
