Notes
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" is the eighth studio LP to be released by Pink Floyd. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England and released in 1973. It stands as one of the most successful commercial recordings of all time, and has been released in many countries. In the U.S., the album has spent more time on the Billboard 200 album chart than any other release in modern history.
Early releases included two posters and two color stickers inside the gatefold sleeve, all designed by the U.K. graphics and design company Hipgnosis.
The most sought-after and valuable version of DSOTM is the original U.K. Harvest issue (The Dark Side Of The Moon), identifiable with a solid blue prism on the labels instead of the shaded triangle used on most other versions.
On September 11, 2020 the MR first reached the threshold of 1000 different versions and is currently hovering around that number, making it one of the most populated MRs in the entire database. Most of the vinyl versions were issued with gatefold sleeves. However, there are several versions with significant differences in packaging and design, such as this version: The Dark Side Of The Moon from the Philippines which has the artist's name and LP title printed in large text on a non-gatefold sleeve. New and previously undocumented versions of DSOTM get added to the database frequently making it one of the most interesting titles to focus on for "deep collectors".
Performed by:
David Gilmour – vocals, guitars, Synthi AKS
Nick Mason – drums, percussion, tape effects
Roger Waters – bass guitar, vocals, VCS 3, tape effects
Richard Wright – organ (Hammond and Farfisa), piano, electric piano (Wurlitzer, Rhodes), EMS VCS 3, Synthi AKS, vocals
Snippets of speech attributed by Nick Mason ("Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd") to:
- Henry McCullough - guitarist with Paul McCartney: "I don't know, I was really drunk at the time."
- Gerry O'Driscoll - Abbey Road doorman: "There is no dark side of the moon. Matter of fact, it's all dark."

- Very nice pressing, always preferred this dutch version instead the 30, 40 and 50th anniversary editions. Nice open soundstage , very vivid , save yourself al lot of money and enjoy this one
- My copy of this has had major ticks and pops from day one. I bought it back when it came out and probably only listened a few times because of it. I should have returned it. Outside of the ticks and pops it sounds excellent. A good wash on my RCM didn't seem to help. I must have a bad pressing.
- I bought this copy few weeks ago, sounds nice.
Payed 25€, comes with EX vinyl and VG+/EX cover, two stickers and two giant posters. - Unboxing video from oficial Pink Floyd channel on youtube: https://youtu.be/EhmdZIJ4u7o?si=8IQxM3vMrLpb9Bhr

This 50th anniversary 24-bit 192-kHz remaster sounds completely amazing. I have owned this album in many formats (like everyone) and this is clearly the winner. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. The soundstage is very wide and deep, making speakers nearly disappear. Vocals and instruments are located with laser precision, while sounding utterly natural. Sounds like it was recorded in 2023. Excellent!referencing The Dark Side Of The Moon (LP, Album, Stereo, Jacksonville Pressing, Gatefold) SMAS-11163
Sounds to be a quality press. That said, I'd rate my copy of the media a VG+ considering some hairlines and surface noise in A5.referencing The Dark Side Of The Moon (LP, Album, Reissue, Remastered, Stereo, 50th Anniversary, 180 Gram) PFR50LP1
I can’t recommend this version, I think most folks will be disappointed. The remaster sounds flat and lifeless to me. My side 2 also had several skips and terrible distortion despite cleaning it in an ultrasonic cleaner. I opted to dump this copy and grab one of the 2016 reissues and am much happier with my decision!- This sounds amazing to me. It's better than my NM 1975 US pressing and the 30th Anniversary pressing that everybody seems to be in love with. Seems like a bargain for a 1973 German pressing. I haven't compared it to a non-club 1st press. But the vinyl is dead quiet and soundstage is fantastic. Only thing I'd say is that while the bass is ok, wish it was a little more pronounced.
