Notes
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" is the eighth studio LP to be released by Pink Floyd. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England and released in 1973. It stands as one of the most successful commercial recordings of all time, and has been released in many countries. In the U.S., the album has spent more time on the Billboard 200 album chart than any other release in modern history.
Early releases included two posters and two color stickers inside the gatefold sleeve, all designed by the U.K. graphics and design company Hipgnosis.
The most sought-after and valuable version of DSOTM is the original U.K. Harvest issue (The Dark Side Of The Moon), identifiable with a solid blue prism on the labels instead of the shaded triangle used on most other versions.
On September 11, 2020 the MR first reached the threshold of 1000 different versions and is currently hovering around that number, making it one of the most populated MRs in the entire database. Most of the vinyl versions were issued with gatefold sleeves. However, there are several versions with significant differences in packaging and design, such as this version: The Dark Side Of The Moon from the Philippines which has the artist's name and LP title printed in large text on a non-gatefold sleeve. New and previously undocumented versions of DSOTM get added to the database frequently making it one of the most interesting titles to focus on for "deep collectors".
Performed by:
David Gilmour – vocals, guitars, Synthi AKS
Nick Mason – drums, percussion, tape effects
Roger Waters – bass guitar, vocals, VCS 3, tape effects
Richard Wright – organ (Hammond and Farfisa), piano, electric piano (Wurlitzer, Rhodes), EMS VCS 3, Synthi AKS, vocals
Snippets of speech attributed by Nick Mason ("Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd") to:
- Henry McCullough - guitarist with Paul McCartney: "I don't know, I was really drunk at the time."
- Gerry O'Driscoll - Abbey Road doorman: "There is no dark side of the moon. Matter of fact, it's all dark."

Does anyone know if this has any extras? Posters/Stickers inside?- See, I'd like to say this record sounds great, and it does, but I got unlucky and ended up with a copy that has a skip right in the middle of the Money sax solo! Other than that though, I'd recommend it.

Initially this record sounded weird/skipped and then when I played other records it did the same to it. I gave this thing a wash with spin clean 10 times both directions and now it sounds perfect. I had to brush the needle too. Even new records can some dust and dirt in them.
Very little pops, no more distortions. Sounds very good even if its a digital mix.
I just wish the bells part wasn't as loud. Is there a release where the bells aren't too loud? - Can someone chime in ? I bought this on eBay. Side 1 labeled SHVL 804. Side 2 is labeled SHVLQ 804. Runouts say SHVL 804 an 804 b. Cover is labeled SHVL Q 804. Maybe this vinyl was pressed on a Friday at 3:59 pm haha. Any thoughts appreciated. Thx

Absolute garbage pressing. Even after 2 Humminguru cleanings. Has scratches. Noise. Garbage. Back to Amazon- Ordered it. It came. Unpacked it. Holding it in my hands. Hmmmm, not sure why i bought this tbh!?!?
DSoTM merchandise has been done to absolute death. My 50th Anv black copy - on which this is based - is much easier to remove from the packing, doesnt require messing with a 2nd disc for and plays flawlessly while sounding really great. Theres no way this will playback quieter (if quietly at all) and it cant possibly sound better seeing as its the same master. I cant even visibly see the funky looking vinyl play while 3m away in the listening spot and even if i could, its spinning, so i cant focus on the design anyway.
Therefore ive bought a vinyl record whose sole purpose is to simply be held by hand to look at for a brief moment before repacking it away.
If this is the only copy of DSoTM to play that i owned, then maybe it would make sense to keep but i think i just got too hyped by the look and plenty positive reviews along with a £30 spring deal offer. I just know i will never play it which makes me a bit of a sucker really!
