Notes
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" is the eighth studio LP to be released by Pink Floyd. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England and released in 1973. It stands as one of the most successful commercial recordings of all time, and has been released in many countries. In the U.S., the album has spent more time on the Billboard 200 album chart than any other release in modern history.
Early releases included two posters and two color stickers inside the gatefold sleeve, all designed by the U.K. graphics and design company Hipgnosis.
The most sought-after and valuable version of DSOTM is the original U.K. Harvest issue (The Dark Side Of The Moon), identifiable with a solid blue prism on the labels instead of the shaded triangle used on most other versions.
On September 11, 2020 the MR first reached the threshold of 1000 different versions and is currently hovering around that number, making it one of the most populated MRs in the entire database. Most of the vinyl versions were issued with gatefold sleeves. However, there are several versions with significant differences in packaging and design, such as this version: The Dark Side Of The Moon from the Philippines which has the artist's name and LP title printed in large text on a non-gatefold sleeve. New and previously undocumented versions of DSOTM get added to the database frequently making it one of the most interesting titles to focus on for "deep collectors".
Performed by:
David Gilmour – vocals, guitars, Synthi AKS
Nick Mason – drums, percussion, tape effects
Roger Waters – bass guitar, vocals, VCS 3, tape effects
Richard Wright – organ (Hammond and Farfisa), piano, electric piano (Wurlitzer, Rhodes), EMS VCS 3, Synthi AKS, vocals
Snippets of speech attributed by Nick Mason ("Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd") to:
- Henry McCullough - guitarist with Paul McCartney: "I don't know, I was really drunk at the time."
- Gerry O'Driscoll - Abbey Road doorman: "There is no dark side of the moon. Matter of fact, it's all dark."

Reviews
- Unfortunately my copy has some pops and crackles (I guess that’s just luck of the draw) but the mastering is very nice. Struggling to rate this one because it sounds great when the needle is moving over the quiet spots, and also the album is a GoAT… how do folks weigh these terrible when they rate?!

I actually have an original 1973 press and this one and was able to listen to each track side-by-side. The two standout differences that I noticed with my copies were:
1) the percussion sounds a lot more crisp on the Remaster (though admittedly, my 1973 copy is played so that could be due to a bit of wear)
2) It does feel like they played with the guitar levels slightly. The one that stood out to me the most was on Brain Damage. On the Remaster, the guitar seems slightly - but noticeably - louder than it does on the original.
Other than that, I feel like this was a pretty great remaster that seems to have more cleaned up the audio than tinkered too much with the levels of things. It's certainly not as "bad" as some remasters I've listened to where they just crank all the levels up to be equal. It's a great, affordable purchase for anyone who can't get their hands on a good quality original recording.referencing The Dark Side Of The Moon (LP, Album, Reissue, Remastered, Stereo, 50th Anniversary, 180 Gram) PFR50LP1
I have a '75 Wish You Were Here and a 79 The Wall but no OG Dark Side to compare this 50th anniversary edition to. So what can I say? It's excellent really. Very well done, no complaints. I guess it could use a slight definition tweak in the lows but that's probably more a factor of my modest system. So with nothing to compare it to all I can say is that it sounds very nice.- It's a good pressing, but not incredible. All tracks are ok, but the most dynamic ones lack expression specially on the highs.
- I’m looking for the box and inserts. So if you have a beat up record with the box or just a missing record I would be interested in it. Message me

Just found a copy of variant 3 still in shrink, with all the extras, and looking as if it had never been played. Super happy! I have many copies of this album, and this one stands up against any of them. I have another Wally / Gene press as well… can’t go wrong!- Hi everyone, I have a 1st UK pressing and in the runout grooves on Side A are three little letters GGA. I haven’t seen anyone make reference to this. Anyone know what this code stands for? The runout grooves also have the A2/B2 so the GGA is not in place of them, but in addition to them. Thoughts?
- Edited 11 days agoThis is the one…..yes it is!! Unless I can find a UK 1st or 2nd press then my search for the definitive pressing of this album may have ended with the Harry Moss cut!!
