Criminally under-rated! This is what all spiritual jazz albums pray to becomereferencing Arnie Lawrence and Treasure Island (LP) FW 38445
Incredible top shelf spiritual jazz, it's a wonder it went under the radar for so long....One that is both legitimately rare, and legitimately great. Badal Roy of Lonnie Liston Smith, Miles 70's electric era does wonders as usual, it's a truly spiritual jazz album in the way (and quality!) that Lonnie Liston's very 1st release on Flying Dutchman from 1973 is.
As others have pointed out, this was recorded in 1979, released in 1983, but sounds timeless, sublime... It's one of those records that as impressive as the first full listen is, when you go back to it, it seemingly becomes even more deep, beautiful then you remembered, as if the music itself were layers from a spiritual plane that a very few select have woven tapestries of music from, cut from the same cloth as Pharoah Sanders, Lonnie Liston Smith, Ronnie Boykins, Andy Bey, Roy Brooks, Cecil McBee, Henry Franklin, Doug Carn, and others....
Worth it, don't sleep, at any price, because when it comes down to it, this is going to reward even more with every listen! :)referencing Arnie Lawrence and Treasure Island (LP) FW 38445
Echoing what others have said… this one has a very psychedelic, eastern vibe happening. Very spacey, but all acoustic instruments. Lovely album.referencing Arnie Lawrence and Treasure Island (LP) FW 38445
People, I love it! Y'all pay a shit ton for, let's be honest, pretty formulaic tunes, and this beauty is available for 12 bux! Makes me fu*kin laugh.referencing Arnie Lawrence and Treasure Island (LP) FW 38445
Longtime favorite. I used to see these all the time. What a beautiful journey. It's a solid Spiritual record released in 1983 but recorded in 1979. Top players and over half of the tracks are great and the rest is good. Don't sleep!
