Pink Floyd – Animals

People hating on this are morons lol. This is one of the clearest and most dynamic pieces of vinyl I own. I'm in awe when I listen to it. The low end is so clean and deep. There's a crack or pop here and there but if that's a deal breaker for you, don't buy vinyl, dummy... Just listen to it on spotify.

I just received this one but it looks fake, the rear of the jacket is a little bit tilted and the code at the left and under the barcode is blurry on the front there are a green sticker "colored vinyl limited edition" (it still under the plastic film).

Phenomenal sound quality on this one. The best version I've heard.

Snowy White was asked to record a guitar solo for "Pigs on the Wing".
His performance was omitted from the vinyl release but, it is included on this 8-track cartridge version.

I was nervous to receive this after seeing the reviews! Looks like I’ve got a good copy because this things sounds incredible!!! It sounds so alive and the separation is fantastic

"Animals" is the overlooked album from the incredible band's output of the '70s, if the previous albums like DSOTM or WYWH were for most of the part very chilled and relaxed, this album is heavier and angrier. I struggle to consider it a Pink Floyd album, more like a Waters' solo work as he wrote and composed all the songs except for "Dogs" which has a little contribution by Gilmour.

This 2016 remaster sounds delicious! It sounds very quiet, but when you crank up the volume of your amplifier that's when the fun begins!
The only reason I wouldn't buy this pressing is the cover, this new colours definitely don't bring the same dystopian and lifeless mood that the original has, also, on Side A there are some constant pops and clicks going from the start of "Pigs On The Wing 1" to the first minute of "Dogs", but it's just me being unlucky.

Side A significantly louder than side B. Never heard original pressing for comparison.

I believe not all copies came with the small postcard (described as “one picture” above). I live in Japan, and when this was released, I ordered 3 from Amazon Japan and 3 from Disk Union. All 3 from Disk Union came with the postcard, but they were not inside the packaged album - they were added separately in the shipping box, seemingly as a kind of bonus material. It might just be something Disk Union offered, being that they are the largest record seller in Japan. The 3 from Amazon did not have the postcards. If anyone has more info, please let us know.

Skipped a cleaning and just dusted on my first play. Phenomenal sound, ZERO crackling.

I compared this with my original 1977 pressing, no contest, original wins hands down; sound is thin and lacks depth plus loads of surface noise.
Only positive is the reworked cover and booklet.
If you compare the 2 records this copy has a much bigger dead wax area, especially on side one, can anyone explain to me why they would ’compress’ the groove into a smaller area, surely it’s bound to affect sound quality? I remember hearing Pete Gabriel explaining that the further apart the grooves the stylus will sit deeper and pull out more information.
Be interested to hear from anyone who has a better understanding of these matters!
