Notes

The Battle Rages On... is the fourteenth studio album by the British hard rock band Deep Purple, recorded May 1992 – March 1993, released on July 19th, 1993 (Europe). It is the last album recorded with the band's classic Mk II line-up, which reunited for a second time (the first reunion being for 1984's Perfect Strangers).

I ran a comparison with this pressing and then played a digital file through the same speakers and the digital file sounded better! This pressing is very flat and lifeless. I don't have an original or other reissue to compare it to, but I would avoid this one. It sounds like your bog standard vinyl revival 'new vinyl' pressing for a rock album - no character, no presence and just plain old anaemic.

The Battle Rages On is a highly underrated album that has some great metal cuts like “Anya” and “Twist In The Tail”, which are both 2 of the all time best Deep Purple tracks!! Just these 2 songs alone are 1000 times better than any song Steve Morse appeared on! Ritchie Blackmore Deep Purple was epic rock and metal, wheres anything after Blackmore left is SUPER BORING and basically, “SUCKS”

Sadly this cheap reissue contains no lyrics or sleeve notes other than a black and white generic insert with track listing and times as well as advertising for other titles in the series.

the once great deep purple became a cheap parody of themselves starting with this album , not a single decent guitar or keyboard solo to be found here.
at least blackmore was smart enough to see the milk was rancid and had the good sense to abandon ship.
i have heard they have made one or two decent albums after this but most fans stopped listening a looong time ago.
EDIT ...after many listens i have grown to like this album , it's so cheesy it's good.
the pressing itself is very quiet.

This is a good, pop oriented hard rock record musically similar to Rainbow albums such as 'Down to Earth.' Joe Lynn Turner was to sing on these records, and apparently, Ritchie Blackmore took issue with many of Ian Gillan's vocal revisions, thus leading to the breakup of the band and Blackmore's permanent departure on the subsequent tour.
