Nada Surf – Let Go

Wonderful sounding pressing. Mastering is perfect and the sound is super clean.

this sounds marvelous through-and-through... almost! returned my first copy bc there was some noise/distortion experienced at the _very end_ of C4 (we're talking, like, the last 15-20 seconds). I returned that copy to Port Merchandise and they made the exchange super easy and quick. BUT! my second copy came in yesterday and the experience persists... same noise at the _exact_ same part of the press. I'm considering making a second exchange request but I fear that this will be a repeat offender.

Same mastering as the black version, but has quieter vinyl (and prettier too). I believe the black vinyl took me two or three copies before I got a good pressing, but this blue version was one and done.

Love this release! A little surface noise on B3 even after a clean, but otherwise really dynamic and quiet. The color looks great!

Side A on my copy is badly off-centre. Has anyone else got the same problem?

I never get tired of this album, and this pressing is fantastic.

Does anyone know the story behind the different track listings on this album? "Neither Heaven Nor Space" is one of the best songs but only appears on certain pressings. Why?

Firstly, this is a classic record of Nada Surf's. The first pressings (clear / blue, and even the black vinyl) are hard or impossible to obtain. So having this release on double, heavy-weight vinyl is well worth the wait.

I was stunned on first seeing this vinyl. It is a pristine and clean pressing. But beyond the vinyl, rarely do you get attention paid to all the elements as thorougly as with this record. Everything has been thought out beautifully, there isn't anything out of place. The record labels are printed in black and metallic silver, with only essential info (including track times). The photo on the D side is surprisingly effective, again maintaining the black and silver theme, with a well-chosen band pic.

I 'like' gatefolds, however, I can tire of the gatefolds which are produced just for the sake of it, when there clearly isn't enough to fill four sides of cardboard. PLUS, it can be annoying with gatefolds, when the record sleeves stick in the spine. This is not a gatefold for the two albums, it is simply a slightly wider single sleeve for the two records - and everything fits.

There is also a printed insert with the lyrics (great, because the lyrics are worth reading). All in all this is a must-have item, well-done to Nada Surf and the producers etc . . . I'm going to check if there is a similar release for Proximity Effect now!

Perfect pressing, no single pop or crack when new. Gonna replace those hard white inners. Nice photo side also.

The Golden-mastered 2009 LP is superb; great separation. No vinyl issues. Wonderful.
