The best vinyl press of this album. Live sound, massive stage, no compression. The envelope is laminated and has not lost any color since release. The reissue is definitely inferior to this edition.

On this album Liv Kristine is given more of lead vocals role, to everyone's benefit. There's still the gruff male vocals in a beauty/beast style. Very dark with a strong doom vibe. Sounds great.

So ugly some early Japanese editions altered original layout artworks on back sleeve titles types, especially on disc's design.

Both Vinyl discs came warped. It's playable but there's audible noise when the groove "jumps" in the first couple of minutes on EVERY side. This supposed to be brand new (mint). Buyers beware.

Does anyone know what the deal is with tracks A3-B1? Why are they labeled "(Mix)"? Are they a different mix than on the other versions of the album? Is there anything different about them at all?

With this second album, the band evolved from the simple concept of melting doom metal with romantic music towards a more complex music.
Keeping the key elements defining their first album, Velvet Darkness they Fear integrates symphonic elements as well as influences from gothic rock.
The songs are more mature, songwriting sounds more confident.
This album also will allow the band to do a breakthrough in Germany through the hit single Der Tanz der Schatten, entirely sung in german.
