Grateful Dead* – Dead Set

Just picked up a near mint copy of this pressing from my local used shop– vinyl is perfect, looks as if it's never been played. WOW, just blew me away the first listen, clean sound with virtually no cracks or pops, or static at all.

Very well recorded and produced. The Dead are in amazing form here!

Lovely rendition of Brokedown Palace. Top 5 dead albums for me, if you're into live Dead it's a no-brainer to add to the collection.

This is lacking a lot of detail and Phil is completely missing. The first Phil bomb (comes in FotD) shakes the floorboards on the 80s pressing I own - sadly, you do not get any of that low end feel here.

There’s more of that luscious bass in New Minglewood and again absent here. No bombs that make you feel like you’re one of the hundred on tape screaming.

The crowd eruptions during soft songs like FotD and Candyman are faint on this - and I am stunned as I am a big fan of a CB release. and this falls short to what we already have been given.

If you can find an 80s copy for $50 - buy it! You will be absolutely floored by the difference.

Excellent reissue! The sound on this is amazing, great mastering and the mix seems to be updated a little bit from previous release (separation on drums is one aspect that has improvement). I favor this over the OG copy I had (just sold it); does anyone have any details on this reissue? Rhino nor Dead have released any info yet which is really strange, as this deserves it. I am assuming by the sound quality, remastering was done from the original tapes?

I picked up the “Orange Crush” orange colored vinyl from Barnes and Noble.

The sound is clean and crisp with excellent instrument separation. Brent’s keys during FOTD, the separate drum channels during Drums are just two examples. Definitely worth acquiring!

I’m so enjoying this release. It was needed Bad too. Hard to get a good OG

Mine arrived scratched and needed a deep cleaning. Sounds great after.

This one sounds fan-freaking-tastic. Chris Bellman knocked it out of the park. Don't hesitate on this one.

Sounds fantastic, it's an audiophile experience when hearing this pressing.

Horribly overrated yet for some reason beloved by some Deadheads that like to hear their favorite songs hacked to pieces.

Great recording, performance, and songs. A must-have show. Hoping for a vinyl repress soon!
