- Fantastic record for three sides. Come Before Christ is easily one of my favorite DIJ songs of many. Break The Black Ice would have to be named as well.
Speaking of the first two sides - which really stand alone as a cohesive statement - there is something utterly timeless in this strange blend of acoustics and electronics. When I picked this up on release, barely into my 20's, I had never heard anything like it. Listening back now I'm drifting in feelings similar to those evoked by Tarkovsky's Stalker, trying to fathom such haunting genius. Side one is simply flawless.
Side three has been well described here by the other commenter, "consort".
Nobody has explained the side of reprises - a novelty I have come to accept as part of this unmatched opus, but rarely actually listened to. - Edited one year agoIf Music is objective to rate, then this Album belongs maybe to the 10 Definitive Best Albums of the whole Music History of the 20./21. Century. It's on place Nr. 6 of 754 to be exactly. "The Wörld Thät Summer" is, for someone who can think with clarity, and can feel clear, with no Doubt, one of the very best Albums overall of the previous Music History, because of it's very, very peculiarity. Just listen, it shows it's worth. At least I think so. Thanks.
- These Steelkraft tapes are beautifully done. Clean, clear tapes, a real pleasure. Don't hesitate to buy any of them. I've got them all now and they're all fantastic!
- Douglas P. seemed like a pretty sad person in the '80s, likely farily pessimistic, and into emulating the 4AD darkwave sound that folks ached for back then. So this is the second album of that phase, still entirely a darkwave-ish album but with the audible absence of Patrick Leagas' New Order influences. P. is obviously a flawed songwriter but had a unique taste for sound design, which well compensates even though it might come off as tacky (the off-key bell synth is awful but I'm kind of in love with it). David Tibet pops up again with backing vocals, dramatic almost to an amusing extent, but his presence on "Break the Black Ice" and "Blood Victory" is a perfect complement to P.'s monotone.
So it's a really cool album where every song sounds different but carries a common set of themes, the death, war, neofolk melodrama, etc. I mean. - According to "Misery and Purity" by Robert Forbes, the first edition would be the one embossed on outside and inside.
What's true now? - where is the pressing of the world that summer with someone underwater with their hands together about to rise out??? vinyl cover

Disc 1 came warped. I emailed them and they sent me a replacement. Unfortunately records still feel slightly warped and flimsy. Sound is good though. - The double cd is wrapped in "shrink" foil and located directly inside the soap stone "box" not anything else...
