First Pressing (1989): Packaged in white cover, limited to 666 copies. Came with lyric sheet and black inner sleeve, some copies with two promo postcards.
Japanese Pressing (1990): Packaged in yellow cover with lyric sheet. Released by Supernatural Organization (SUR LP 8). This is the only pressing to list "In Sacrilege" (Track B3) in the tracklisting.
Second Pressing (1991): Packaged in yellow cover with lyric sheet.
Third Pressing (1994): Packaged in red cover with lyric sheet, limited to 400 copies.
Enrico Chiarparin Art Reissue (2000): Packaged in heavyweight plastic sleeve with 12"x12" info sheet, this picture disc reissue features artwork on both sides by Enrico Chiarparin. Limited to 2000 copies.
The 25th anniversary edition was released in 2014 by Pylon Records on double LP in two versions, Red Translucent vinyl (300 copies) and Orange vinyl (700 copies).
CD editions were released in 1991, 1993 and 1997 in standard jewel box by World Serpent. Then reissued in 2003 in digipak by Tesco.
A tape edition was officially released by Steelkraft Manufactory in 2017 (200 copies).
A 30th anniversary edition was released in 2020 by Steelwork Maschine on CD+7" in a gatefold cover, renamed "The Wall Of Sacrifice Plus" with a Black heavy 7" (200 copies), Splatter 7" (300 copies) or colour 7" (500 copies).

Edited 9 months agoThis LP, the best Death in June imo (as far as i have something to state about it), is the faithfull companion of C93 "Swastikas for Noddy". I always listen to both in a row. "Sacrifice" is a bit darker and melancholic than the unique exhilarating, fierce and hilarious "Noddy", but it's all coming from the same era and share a common mood. Both LPs have a different version of "Hullo Angel". Brilliant
"a bizarre misprint the factory had done of 400 copies of the LP sleeve in red" - Douglas P.- "a Japanese bootleg being released which I might have got some money out of but never did as, with the aid of a very large and sharp kitchen knife I'd bought specially for the occasion, I seized the bulk of the pressing I found at the place in Tokyo that was distributing it. With the aid of Rose McDowall and David Tibet I took all the boxes out into the middle of the busy street outside and in a fit of rage was going to set fire to them all. Tibet pleaded with me not to so I pissed all over them instead. What I should have done was of course tried to find an alternative, legal distribution outlet for them but I was pretty volatile in those days." - Douglas P
Edited one year agoAnyone else find it impossible to extract the vinyl from its packaging without damaging the sleeve?- Edited 3 years agoStrange that the Supernatural Org edition is the only one that has the correct track listing on the back cover of the LPs. Is that why it's "Unofficial"? :-)
- Edited 5 years agoDI6 ist not only "But What Ends..." and definitely not "All Pigs..." "The Wall Of Säcrificé" for short is one of Douglas best albums ever.
Indeed; both the cover and the CD itself have the whiphand in gold/dark yellow.- Edited 5 years agoJust got this rare 3rd edition with the red WoS cover/jacket. I can confirm the letters are indeed black (cover), and, unlike I thought it would be, the jacket itself is kinda rough textured cardboard. It sure is not glossy as the pictures seem to portray.
Black insert, with lyrics on one side and Douglas photo on the other side (without leaves mask).

I wish I liked this album. I feel like I'm missing something.
I like a lot of DIJ's later stuff (But What Ends and All Pigs Must Die are among my favorite records) but this album really doesn't do anything for me. "Tedious" would be my go-to word for it but that almost gives it too much credit.
Heilige Leben is beautiful, though, and more importantly: Fall Apart almost redeems the whole album.
Fall Apart is one of the best DIJ tracks I've heard. Wish I could say the same about the rest.
Have had this pressing for about a year now and it is superb! Fantastic artwork, presentation and sound quality. Fitting for a masterwork such as this album. 10/10.
