Jon And Vangelis* – Short Stories

I found this today and it's a variant D. It was still in the original shrink, but opened. Looks unplayed. The shrink caused slight warping of the rear of the sleeve as it tightened over then years. I like the printed labels on these old Polydors.

Wow. Some words several reviewers here throw to this album. "Utter pap", "Doesn't save the music". Seriously?
This is a work of playful imagination, tender melodies, and Jon's angelic voice carrying the maestro's improvisation mastery and ideas. Some people just don't seem to get it. Maybe they're just too angry, or they were expecting Yes levels of progressive energy and complexity. This is not that. It is a wonderous and playful dreamscape. Almost a revisiting of childhood.
Birdsong, Love is, and Play within a play are fantastic. Certainly the highlights.

Musically it's utter pap and is a million miles behind 'The Friends of Mr. Cairo'.
Had the LP many years ago, chucked it, and just picked up a vinyl copy only yesterday - I really shouldn't have bothered.
I have played it once and I can't see it ever coming off the shelf again.

An interesting and somewhat bizarre first collab from Jon Anderson and Vangelis but will certainly take you on a massive trip!

I do not like this album at all even though I am huge fan of Vangelis' work. Anybody else feeling like this ? Pressing itself is really good but doesn't save the music for me. [ Playing this using an Ortofon 2M Black cartridge ]
