This isn't quite as strong as their debut, but still ranks among the gems of the California psychedelic scene, highlighted by "Who Am I", "Janis", and the title track. This pressing sounds pretty good, with solid range from top to bottom and a full-bodied soundstage. My copy plays nice and clean with occasional light surface noise. - Bought new when it was released, and still sounds great 50+ years later. I shudder to think of the early tables I played this on, and yet, tonight, it plays very nicely. The hand bells and percussion on Pat’s Song sound very clear, the bass and drums have presence, and the surface noise is not too terrible. An early “heavy” rock lp. Recommended time machine!
- i would have to say i think im partial to this mono release. absolutely brilliant- bass drums, organ, and electric guitar are out of this world. eastern jam is perfection. i do think i like their first lp a little more for the sheer intensity and creativity of it, but its hard to compare the two, when they are on vastly different scales musically. here you have a psychedelic folk masterpiece and with their first it’s an all out psych show of the summer of love which describes the times perfectly.
- i’d say with the glorious album that was electric music for the mind and body, the fish did a great job following up with a more deep cut album with fuzzy guitars and haunting vocals throughout. and of course the antiwar title track with the humor sound with the deeper message-possibly showing how “funny” in a sense it was to send young men to die. just a thought

My brother bought this album and I think that "I FEEL LIKE I'M FIXIN' TO DIE" was banned on some if not most radio stations due to the unpopular subject of the Vietnam war and restrictions that radio stations had back then .- Edited 2 years agoI avoided listening to or buying this record for 30 years because I honestly could not stand the “hit song” on it (“Fixing-to-die rag”). That was a big mistake: all the rest of the record is quality psychedelic rock and I find it fully on par with their “Electric music for the mind and body” LP.
My copy of this pressing by Craft Records was (besides cheap) quiet and full-sounding, with clarity, good instrument separation and convincing soundstage. Listened to on a system with Project Classic turntable (Evo subplatter upgrade), Schiit Mani phono preamp, Rotel RA-1062 amp, Goldring 2200 cartridge, KEF LS 50 speakers. Nice thick cardboard for the cover too, though I thought the cover image could be crisper. - Amazing pressing, this album really comes to life on vinyl! Audio is very clear and dynamic and all the little details really pop, very happy with this pressing!
- Question: I have a copy that has a Gold sticker with Blue printing that says "Manufactured & Distributed In Canada By Quality Records Limited Jacket Printed in U.S.A. 380 Birchmount Road Toronto, Ont." All the Canadian pressings listed here say "Manufactured By – Musimart Ltd, Ltée" or "Manufactured By – Phonodisc Limited". Does anyone know what pressing I have?

If the sticker references groups' appearance at Woodstock, why would the release year on this be 1968?referencing I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die (LP, Album, Stereo, Blurb Cover, Stereolab Labels) VSD•79266
Slow mellow dark & mysterious folkie jug band rock music, layered with fuzz atmospherics and some high quality (but not stratospheric) psychedelic instrumentation. Clever Sgt Peppers inspired cover.
Enjoyable (if patchy) 60’s hippie psych album.
