Now avialable as a reissue in a single pocket cover (no gatefold), artwork is now completely matt black with the same embossed logogram. Has insert, and 2 x polylined paper sleeves. Sonics on my copy are fantastic. Not perfect, but very close. Johann's score is a masterpiece.

Regular so-so from Optimal. Mass is noisy and far to be flat, which is very critical for such record, that cut with that low average level
. And this after proper ultrasonic cleaning (not that cheesy Audio Desk stuff). Cannot remember any distortion on side D, maybe I was into music that much. I use Ortofon OM 20 as pick-up, matrixes with ones on both records, which is probably not the case, if it was initial order of few thousands. Recording itself is amazing, and very dynamic. However I have some “doubts” about how’s cello sounds here. Another thing to admit, that mastering on cover mentions Mandy Parnell, while on runouts stated FMW for BO, which is Felix Müller cutting and Bo Kondren mastering, I think. So maybe it’s better to go with digital this time.

              The good:
For those who are wondering, the logogram on the cover of this record translates to "Solar System" as can be found in the movie at 00:54:41. There is a burst sequence of translations that fly by for a couple seconds, and this is located among that sequence. It was not released in the GitHub folder that Wolfram released from the making of the movie.

On the whole this is a well-pressed record, most transitions between songs are dead silent and the intricate sonic details come through loud and clear with next to no hissing or popping. Props for adding "On The Nature of Daylight" by Max Richter, I saw a lot of complaints because it was not added to the CD or digital releases of the score.

              The bad:
It feels like on the whole, the entire album lacks the depth/punch that it has on digital. Comparing a song like "One of Twelve" side by side with the digital version, it's clear the bass got heavily watered down on the vinyl pressing. Such a shame, I don't feel like it would have been that taxing to add to the record. And the record does not have any noticeable bump in quality over the digital version. Makes me doubt this was sourced from anything higher quality than what you'd be able to buy on iTunes.

In my opinion the cover art is too dark. It's supposed to be the texture of the space ships the Heptapods visited us in, but the details in the texture get lost in a dark smudge of shadows. Also the text on the front is pixelated and way too small to read, even up-close.

By far the most disappointing part of this pressing is the fact that some quiet parts and transitions between songs on side D have such a high noise floor you'd think that there was wind blowing through your headphones. Others have also mentioned distortion on side D as well, which is insane because side D has some of the best music in the entire soundtrack!

I want to give this record 5 stars because of how much I loved the movie, but I cannot in good conscience. There are too many errors and missteps here, which as a sum warrant the removal of a star. I am happy to own this beautiful score on vinyl, but disappointed at their execution in bringing it to vinyl.

Incredibly quiet pops and recorded loud. Many thanks DG.

No issues with my copy. Sounds very nice and clean. Disc two is mildly warped but presents no problems.

My copy has pops and clicks and at the end of side D there is distortion. Pressed at Optimal.

Must say it's beautiful really great pressing. Is it limited edition? Any idea? I think it might be a rare item in few years.

I will chime in as well since it seems needed... my copy looks and sounds beautiful.
