Here's a 45 RPM 12-in Maxi with two versions of groove is in the heart, the 5 minute and a shorter 3 minute cut. Side B has two mixes of what is love?
Sound quality is excellent and no errors on this pressing. Recommended.

Everywhere on the internet says that this was a double A side release in the UK. I've got the 12" and it says Side One and Side Two clearly - and I don't recall What is love having any radio play whatsoever. This was even featured as a question on UK Channel 4' 15/09/2023's edition of Popmaster TV and I still think it is totally wrong! Seems like classic internet misinformation that has now become fact

One of Dance music's greatest B-sides, I always preferred it to the A-side the moment I heard it, a very under-rated track that would have warranted a release in its own right in my opinion.

It's hard to even begin to know how to praise this song. It seamlessly melds pure jazz, pure funk, pure hip hop, pure NYC dance club vibe (post hi-NRG, post-electro, with eyes on the then-current House, to the newly emerging twin blends of Acid Jazz and UK balearic beat movement) into a pop dance alloy that literally everybody can dance to. Multiple instrumental hooks (beautiful sampling here), multiple vocal hooks, and a silly slide whistle. Engineered by the amazing Bob Power, who had his hands on so much early 90s brilliance it's astounding. As if the hip hop, funk, and R&B / Soul elements weren't solid enough, Bootsy Collins, Q-Tip, Maceo Parker, and Fred Wesley guest on it. Despite all of the disparate sources and styles, Deee-Lite manages to combine them in a way that lets each facet shine on its own: you can hear the jazz, the funk, the hip hop, each in turn, and overlayed in playful layers. Lady Miss Kier's retro-futurist go-go club dance moves are impossible to separate from the song once you've seen how her vocals and moves work together. Somehow the overall aesthetic is like Summer of Love 1960s meets eye-popping dayglo futurist Disco. The artwork on the single is beautiful, to boot. All from the minds and skills of a queer, positive, international trio (Lady Miss Kier: Youngstown, Ohio, USA; DJ Towa Tei: Tokyo, Japan; Super DJ Dmitry: Kyiv, Ukraine) forged in the fertile clubs of late 1980's Williamsburg, NY. Joyous perfection.

NOTE: all of their albums are very worth hearing if you've never looked beyond "Groove Is In The Heart".

Funny to see a record company that deemed Deee-Lite's music as "no longer valid" in 1995 is still banking on the band's earliest songs. Elektra Records, you are the unfunny joke of the music industry.

Great artwork, great coloured record, superb pressing, this is such a great release, one of those RSD releases that really sit well in the collection. Such a great track also!

Is this the RSD 2017 version? Photo says yes, but the barcodes don't match what my copy has. The barcode on mine is 081227940980. It's also 33 1/3, not 45.
