- I find "Go Tell the Mountain" credited to JLP is blatant rip-off of "Hear my train a-comin'" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

I think this is probably a radio promo LP rather than a test pressing. As it has two tracks that’s not on the regular New Rose LP it’s obviously not a test pressing for that one. - Edited 6 years agoThe original presses, New Rose (for France) or What's So Funny About (for Germany) initially contained only 9 LP and 11 CD titles.
Here, this reissue only proposes the vinyl version, but on a double album for a better listening comfort and for the first time only: 16 titles at all. It's therefore 7 titles more than the original vinyl, including 5 totally unpublished.
B6 and B7 were already part of the CD version (French and German) but also present on the French radio promo vinyl version. Test pressing original track listing?
B6 - Alabama Blues
Written-By - Robert Wilkins
B7 - Good Times
Written-By - Lightnin Hopkins
As for C12 to D16 are totally unpublished, ie more than one vinyl side. There are 2 compositions of Jeffrey Lee Pierce and 3 Blues song covers including a long version of "Goin 'Down" by Don Nix up to 6 "50.
C12 - Mississippi Bottom Blues
Written-By - Kid Bailey
D13 - L.A. County Jail Blues
Written By - Jeffrey Lee Pierce
D14 - Goin 'Down (Full Version)
Written-By - Don Nix
D15 - In My Room
Written By - Jeffrey Lee Pierce
D16 - Ommie Wise
Written-By - G.B. Grayson
The album is a marvel for those who appreciate modern Blues song interpretations, here arranged by Jeffrey Lee Pierce and his team.
