The Muppets – The Muppet Movie (Original Soundtrack Recording)

I owned a copy of this as a kid, which naturally got a bit trashed. I replaced it with another used NM copy of this pressing a while back, and upon finally giving that a spin I discovered it contained a different version of A3, the vocal version of "Never Before, Never Again". It appears to be a more "contemporary" arrangement which was contained within a UK version of the film. (My OG had the more orchestral version which is in the US film and subsequent soundtrack pressings/reissues.) Has anyone else noticed this? I wonder how many copies got pressed with this before it was switched out. Also, does the UK pressing also include this mix?

This is a gorgeous pressing. It sounds bright and consistent across each track. Highly recommend picking this up if you're able!

I love everything about this release. The remaster sounds amazing (I'm Going to Go Back There Someday is the highlight) and the artwork looks fantastic (and little Gonzo sitting by the fire 🥺). Really, really nice product here.

My copy sounds excellent. (I did not clean the record before playing as an FYI ) I will say "Never Before, Never Again" sounds like they cleaned up Oz's vocals compared to my original pressing but, I could also just be going crazy.

A classic. Perfect to sing along to on days when you don't have time to sit down and enjoy the film. Media has held up well throughout years of usage.

If you love the Muppets, you probably already know how important Paul Williams is to their musical repertoire. We're very well treated to this soundtrack that he co-wrote with Ken Ascher. Very catchy songs with really clever lyrics. You wouldn't think puppets could get this damn emotional and resonate with the listener to this degree, but, well... here it is. (Just forgive Frank Oz's voice cracking in the high register as he tries to pull off a very loud Miss Piggy.)
