- Stumbled in this and it’s an amazing album. Music is brilliant. Mellow post bop trio with brilliant bass, piano playing. And of course sax. Totally underrated record.

The cover art is by Kenneth Noland, not Knowland. Pressing seems fine. The pops on first disc most likely paper residue -- I had to rip the paper sleeve to get the disc to budge. I wish the cover was a gatefold -- better to handle two discs.- Edited 3 years agoThe spine reads stereo, but to my ears this is a mono recording. No sound stage whatsoever. Does anyone else have the same experience?
- This review is based on my listening experience using a custom built U-Turn Orbit turntable with a built in Pluto amplifier & a Ortofon 2M Red cartridge paired with Edifier R2000db powered speakers.
I’m not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination but I’m an aspiring one.
The pressing is solid, just as I’ve done to expect from this Blue Note reissue campaign. Dynamic, quiet, amazing!
As for the music, this is an ideal late-night record. Want to have an idyllic backdrop for a conversation & a glass of wine on a Friday night? This is your joint! The interplay between Konitz, Mehldau, & Haden are intimate & clear. A beautiful record! - This is a really good pressing. Konitz' playing at 69 or 70 (age on the recording) is so strong, and Haden and Mehldau lay a perfect canvas for him to do his thing.
- Edited 4 years agoGood sound but pressing has an irritating fault on side B, some ticking at the end of track 1. I changed my copy, and the new one from another batch has exactly the same mistake, seems to be a wider problem.
