The man who started Salsoul records only had 3 albums on the label. this being his biggest hit.

This Australian 12" is the only original official 12" issued with the great Walter Gibbons instrumental mix of The Bottle (La Botella) by Joe Bataan, AND, an un-credited (possibly Walter Gibbons?) Australian-only extended 8:40 club mix of Rap-O Clap-O, which is the longest, funkiest and best mix I have heard of this classic street scene/rap-influenced track that was pumped out of living room windows, retail stores, boomboxes, car stereos and of course, clubs throughout NY City!

Wondering what the correct sleeve is for Australian version?..mine is..well..a nice set of ladies legs with panties around knees and disco single..worth the A$1.50 paid alone..

Mine is like an orange generic Salsoul sleeve. I think I paid about 2 bucks for mine, NM.

Is this record really that rare? One sold for A$120.

Yes it is very very rare as only the 8 min 35 version was ever released in Australia

Salsa musician Joe Bataans early rap groove. Great chants compliment Joe's primitive rap, backed by typical disco wah-wah and hand claps. Without the defining 40-piece orchestra (due to costs), this Surface record is a more mature electronic Salsoul production but oozing class.
