- Edited 2 years ago"STEREO EFFECT REPROCESSED FROM MONOPHONIC" ...a phrase that induces rage in music lovers everywhere, with good reason.
Garbage fake "stereo" sound from recordings that were originally mono. Sacrilegious destruction of important cultural artifacts. Some contemptible, criminally overpaid pig decided that acoustic folk music, recorded in mono in the 1920's and 1930's needed to be STEREO-IZED, MAN!!! As expected (and like ALL stereo-reprocessed-from-mono, and all "duophonic stereo" releases), it sounds like absolute dog$h!t. Mono recordings that were excellent and timeless as they already existed were taken and ruined, for no good reason. If you are looking for any Carter Family music, make sure it is presented in mono, as it was originally recorded.
