Notes
The Wall is the eleventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, recorded December 1978 to November 1979, and released on 30 November 1979.
Performed by:
David Gilmour – vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitar, synthesizer, co-production
Nick Mason – drums and percussion
Roger Waters – vocals, bass guitar, synthesizer, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, sleeve design, co-production
Richard Wright – keyboards
January 1979: Pink Floyd began seven months of intermittent recording at Super Bear Studios and Studio Miraval in France on The Wall.
1 September 1979: Two months of work began on The Wall at CBS Studios, New York with The New York Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor/arranger Michael Kamen. Floyd later worked on The Wall at Los Angeles' Cherokee Studios and Producers Workshop.
1 November 1979: Pink Floyd began a week's recording and mixing at The Producers Workshop in Los Angeles.
23 November 1979: Pink Floyd's single Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2 (B-side: One Of My Turns) was released in the UK. It was the group's first UK single since Point Me At The Sky in 1968, and spent four weeks at No. 1 in the charts.
30 November 1979: The Wall was released in the UK and reached No. 3 in the charts.
8 December 1979: The Wall was released in the US and reached No. 1 in the charts.
Aside from slightly different Wall patterns, colouring and (separated) stickers on front, the first UK pressings can be recognized by "Produced by David Gilmour" printed inside the right side of the gatefold sleeve, instead of "Written by Roger Waters," as well as different credit arrangements within the bricks.
This master release only contains the album as originally released in 1979. The motion picture soundtrack of the same name can be found here: The Wall

- Does this version credit Gilmour or Waters as producer? Looks like Waters but it's hard to tell from the pics...
- Just picked up a NM copy used for $10...now I know why so cheap. Vinyl in great shape but surface noise is HORRENDOUS!

Official EP/Album DR: 13- Edited 22 days agoSo I picked this up at my local record store and this was the 4th copy of the Wall with the 36183 catlouge number that I had in my possession. The other three were 1979 copies, two of those were promo copies that I sadly had to return (their disc did not have the demo stamp on the labels). The 1979 pressings I have come accross sounded amazing but were sadly on really noisy vinyl which was especially distracting in quiter sections. I was really burnt on trying to find a clean copy but this copy has really filled the void of an amazing sounding copy. I compared it to my 1979 Pitman by recording it through my Universal Audio Volt 276 to my computer, I did close A/B comparisons and they sound EXACTLY the same (other than the nosie). Even the waveforms were identical but the 1982 repress is on wayyyyy quiter vinyl, I mean its not dead silent but its a massive diffence in terms of listenabilty. So if you're looking for an awesome all analouge cut that uses the same metalwork as the 1979 US pressings, I HIGHLY recommend the 1982 repress, it's absolutley amazing.
- This is practically what the original master tape sounded like. Personally, I think other versions such as the OG CD sound a little better, but this IS the master tape's sound so you have to remember everything else came from sounding like this at some point.

Doug Sax was truly a genius. I’ve yet to put a TML pressing of anything on my table the didn’t sound above average, but this is in its own league! One of the most immersive, captivating, 3D soundstages I’ve ever heard, HUGE Dynamics, cavernous bass, crystal clear details, and perfectly pressed. I can’t criticize anything about this pressing! Easy Five Stars- Edited one month agoWaited years to find a good copy of The Wall at a decent price. Finally found this version at my local record store for $30 in perfect shape. Felt like a steal. It really does sound incredible! I can’t imagine this album sounding any better. Great overall mastering, just an awesome find.
- Superb pressing, very warm and crystal clear. The surface noise is present, but is only noticeable in quiet parts.

For $27, a 46 year old classic that is mastered perfectly and is in good condition..... Yes please! One of my favorite records that I own, even if I don't play it as much as others. It sounds amazing and right now I'm feeling like blasting it bc I am so sickened by the ignorance in my country currently.
