Reviews
- It’s kind of ridiculous to go to all the trouble of making reproduction sleeve and then printing a UPC code on it. Total fail, that is unless it’s a sticker.
- hello dear friends, I have the cd version, anyone? Like the song too, especially the percussion on scarecrow. And indeed 'the drop'...somebody was talking about that.

Just to clarify.
"I had two to compare, both located in Ireland, One was cracked and the other came out of a loft lot in Ireland. Both identical in layout etc."
One is the copy I have the other is the broken one. making it 2 in total of this pressing I have seen. (Leaving this one the only one intact)

Why possible Irish pressing ?
After searching web and contacting Floyd site (No reply to question asked).
My findings.
Differs from all other UK 4 prong pressings listed by
1. Raised KT missing from center
2. Matrix number at 6 o'clock is different
3. No stamper number visible at 3 o'clock (run out)
4. Mother number "1" at 9 o'clock (run out)
5. KT at 12 o'clock (run out)
6. Lunar surface in center (see photos in listing)
I have looked at other 7" singles from Companies/Artists of the 60's that are Irish pressings with Irish labels that I have here.
(London, RCA,Columbia,Tamla Motown,FLY,) to name a few.
Lunar center present, KT also present in all runouts. All markers appear at same locations on record including an early Irish labelled Floyd single.
It seems the “1” represents the first Mother (9 o’clock) and Matrix number is shorter.
I had two to compare, both located in Ireland, One was cracked and the other came out of a loft lot in Ireland. Both identical in layout etc.
This may have been pressed in Ireland and used UK labels. Happy for any input, either way only one listed anywhere of this variant at moment, only other one I know of is confirmed broken.

2 copies of this pressing were referenced, both had same numbers and markings ,both located in Ireland, same in every detail.referencing See Emily Play (7", 45 RPM, Single, 4-prong Push-out Centre Master Number Right Aligned) DB 8214
I also have one of these but i can't call it Irish because the 2nd UK run had no KT on the centre, https://www.discogs.com/release/13542202-Pink-Floyd-See-Emily-Play/image/SW1hZ2U6NDE0MjY2NDU=
i've never seen a "Sold In UK.." centre on an Irish pressing also i have seen a few (very small) amount of dodgy pressed UK centres..- I have been looking at a copy of this single I have for a few months now and am wondering if anyone has a Irish copy of this single. This one has UK labels, but lunar style pressing on center
None of the UK pressings listed here have lunar centers which seem to be an Irish indicator anyone have one to compare.
Thanks - I love this little single. The funner, psychedelic, Barrett-side of Floyd has always been my favourite (up to and definitely including MORE). I'd love a time machine to be able to see them playing this stuff live, without the hype and preconceptions.
This vinyl is beautifully produced with attention to period detail. I like the original, genrically 'plain', die-cut Columbia paper sleeve with the train wrap around - very cool. The 8 and a half inch card reprinting the train image is a bit odd (though nice enough), as it has to be stored separately from the 7" sleeve, not fitting, so I'm not sure about the purpose of that. One of my nicer Floyd pieces.
Oddly: this single sits well with the pink vinyl of One Slip 7", another favourite of mine and totally the other side of the spectrum of Emily Play in musical terms - it's backed with a full version of Terminal Frost, so two x great floyd tracks on a little gem of a single.
Groovemaster - DJ - what do you mean about the "DES stereo mix". I had a quick google of stereo mix and all I found were complaints, nothing about a good stereo mix existing (there seems to be a 2020 stereo mix on youtube and the cover artwork of the train of this pink disc is shown).
Towards the end of the mono-era, as radio stations had more expensive equipment, I understand sometimes superior stereo mixes were produced specifically for the radio stations, not publicly released, sometimes lost - was this the case for See Emily Play? - shame no one had a 4-pin Dinker to cut an OC (optional centre) even worse shame no-one had used the outstanding DES Stereo mix that had been created, that would have really given the Floyders something to buy!
- One of the finest pop songs ever written by one of the true geniuses of the last century: Syd Barrett. His skill was in writing the most wonderful, twisted psychedelic music and adding lyrics that could only come from the mind of someone who was a child at heart.
See Emily Play was released in June '67 (the very pinnacle of the "Summer Of Love"), and no other song seems better suited to the vibe of that incredible time. Right from the screeching start the funky bassline and twisting organ grab your attention, then the wonderful drop takes you into Syd's first verse. It truly is a special moment every time I hear it.
A lot can be interpreted with Syd Barrett's lyrics (both with Pink Floyd and his solo work), but I will not bore you with what my personal thoughts are. With a line as beautiful as "Float On A River, Forever And Ever, Emily" it would be wrong to dissect.
This perfect pop song also has a fantastic b-side called Scarecrow (an album cut from Pink Floyd's debut album Piper At The Gates Of Dawn). Much like that album as a whole, it takes the listener on a journey to places only they know in their minds. This was one of Syd Barrett's brilliant touches; the ability to paint personal images in the listeners minds with his perfect use of words. He was a fan of poetry, and it shows.
Of course this was only the start of Pink Floyd's journey. Syd wouldn't be along for the ride, but with material like this he was always going to be remembered.
