Can – Tago Mago

The orange vinyl sounds surprisingly excellent. Nice separation, quiet, and with a full sound. My only complaint is that the mid and high end is a bit too forward for my tastes, but a little EQ helps put it in my sweet spot. The music here is essential. Sure, it has some freakout moments that may a bit too loose, but Tago Mago grooves and weaves in a wonderful stream-of-consciousness manner that's easy to get lost in. Not for casual listening, but that's sort of the point. This is an album to be experienced. Sleeve quality on this pressing is also top-notch.

Sounds good I'm general, far too hot in the high frequencies for me and bass heavy. Mid-range neglected slightly.

This sounds really good. I would not have guessed it was digitally sourced. Very dynamic sounding LP of this timeless music.

Incredible pressing of this mind melting album. Not sure if this is an analog or digital transfer but I love the way this sounds and is a great alternative to spending outrageous amounts of money on earlier copies.

I purchased this in 2024. The hype sticker incorrectly labels it as orange vinyl. It is black vinyl. I know there are orange versions, but mine, sadly, is incorrectly promoted on the sticker.

As of July 2024, it seems like this edition no longer includes a download code - a bit of a shame given Mute tend to offer FLAC downloads (they did with my copy of Fading by Pole) but this given the vinyl is the main attraction, probably not a dealbreaker for many people.

Update: Unfortunately, I appear to have gotten the runt of the vinyl-y litter with this release - despite being new and sealed, it felt horrible and played horribly too! the inner sleeves were incredibly thin feeling, almost like they were damp, and the records inside were already full of static and dust. The coup de grace was on the record itself however - side 1 had a massive dirty mark/scratch across the first two tracks, making playback impossible. I was pretty gutted, because side 2 played fine and sounded phenomenal, but I'll be taking it back to the shop.

An absolute storming bonkers psychedelic album from 1971, Damo Suzuki on vocals. Check out Paperhouse, Mushroom and Aumgn. Like a german Pink Floyd with a mad Japanese lad on singing. This and Ege Bamyasi are their best in my humble opinion.

Amazzzzing sound, this is the one to get if can’t find a decent first pressing . Dynamic!

i’ve personally always made it a point to stay away from digitally sourced represses, as well as colored vinyl, but this, this is good. can’s 2LP masterpiece is brought to life in an incredible way, so glad to finally own a copy.
