Huey Lewis And The News* – Fore!

This release sounds vastly better than the U.S. BMG club release. It has full range sound with a tonal balance much closer to what I remember from my original cassette copy. As a bonus, it includes "The Power of Love", which was not included in U.S. releases.

...anyway, great album and great pressing.

I was on the verge of tears by the time my copy of Fore arrived, since I was positive it wouldn't include The Power of Love. But it did, and relief washed over me in an awesome wave.

I am little dissappointed in this series. I love the Japanese focus on details, these reissues are very well done as far as reproduction artwork and print quality are concerned. BUT this is another missed chance to offer more than just a remastered version of the album and a couple of bonus tracks that most hardcore fans already have, mostly in the same quality. Nice would have been: some additional photos from the various photographers of these albums and eras like Rappoport, McDonald, Ressmeyer, Hall, linernotes and real bonus tracks like demos, outtakes... you get the picture. A lot of money for basically nothing. The look great, though.

Absolute fantastic pressing. Huge dynamic range, silent vinyl - one of my best sounding records. Also seems to be the only vinyl version of Fore! pressed in DMM.

Chris Hayes was a criminally underrated guitar player. This album always takes me back to my youth. Timeless classic.

The BMG D101986 issue of the CD is a really terrible mastering. Any bass that was on the original recording is gone on the CD.

According to Patrick Bateman, Fore! is "the group's most accomplished album" and features the song "Hip to Be Square" which espouses "the pleasures of conformity" but with a catchy 80s beat. It is hard to say whether Sports or Fore! is better, as they are both great albums, and feature both Huey and the News at the top of their games. This international version also features Power of Love from BTTF, which is the reason I sought it out. The album is a fun listen, the songs are very accessible, and as always, Huey's voice is timeless. This pressing is overall very good, with some minor sibilance on the vocals, but the music itself is full of punch and pop, with an excellent fullness across the soundstage. Easily found in bargain bins, this is worth a pickup and a great add to any collection.

That subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness. Oh my god. It even has a watermark.
