Love this album - maybe cause I love Goldfrapp. Another great collection in the discography.

Fantastic album. It comes across as a fusion of every single album Goldfrapp has ever released. Almost as if it has become the duo's new found sound after so many different directions over the years. Clear, clean, and rich. Great artwork. Scoop this up while the limited edition clear vinyl remains. I find that 'Silver Eye' is a great achievement by a band so beloved. A+++

Very clean and crisp sound. No surface noise at all between tracks. Very pleased.

(By 'her' I do include Will Gregory, but I guess the band name designates a kind of Alison ownership? So, I write the below with 'her' pronoun and the understanding that Will is there . . .).

My favourite Goldfrapp album has generally been Felt Mountain, for some of its iconic tunes. But when I am listening to the other albums I easily change my mind. It's wonderful following her progress. She has mastered a strong range in pop and seemingly doesn't tire. Each album has a different character; veering from punchy disco to songs with a purer beauty and always retaining a keen awareness of electronica. Then suddenly with Tales of Us, she jumped off! Took a bit of a detour and told a personal tale through different biographies - the result is a treasure. In the world of corporate tyranny over music, it's awesome to see (hear) an artist expressively exploring.

Silver Eye is probably the best album in terms of balancing her pop range. The clear vinyl pressing is beautiful to listen to. However, it confounds me that some of the singles aren't remixed more and available as CDs (I only listen to tangible CD / vinyl). Goldfrapp's sound being firmly based in electronica it is a match made in heaven for remixes (as too are her friends, Depeche Mode – kings of the remix). So, now with the deluxe edition CD we finally have some remixes; and alot of them - this is great value.

Everybody is expectedly talking about the duet with Dave Gahan: it is great to hear them sing together and the Ocean song is the perfect framework for them both. Dave Gahan’s soulful voice holds a lot of personal history, despite a bumpy road, he's an amazing survivor. Though Martin Gore continues to write beautiful songs, sometimes the DM ‘sound’ doesn't manage to keep up with Gahan and Gore. Dave Gahan could be outgrowing Depeche Mode. I hope I’m wrong and if I’m right he better take Martin with him. [Sorry - shouldn't be writing about DM!]

For me, the brightest song on the Silver Tree remix album is Everything Is Never Enough, Video Mix. I love the chirpy synthesizer tune in the background of this song. It deserves to be a seven minute mix. Goldfrapp, Alison and Will, deserve a much bigger audience. This is great stuff.

The sound of this album is very compressed and mushy, which harms the spherical parts. Some headroom between the loudest parts and the 0db ceiling certainly wouldn't have been harmful to the music.

I only recently discovered GOLDFRAPP, actually while checking out Chromatics (much darker) for a friend. However, I took to GOLDFRAPP, for myself, in a Big Way!! The band name is taken from lead Allison Goldfrapp's last name. She is astounding!!! I don't believe their sound should be compared to Madonna, or any pop diva, nor Blondie (all of which I had heard; that's rubbish-talk!) GOLDFRAPP is absolutely much more electronic & members have musical training. Their "Black Cherry" CD was my introduction & in rapid succession, I purchased "Supernature" and "Silvereye" CDs, quickly followed with the DVD "Wonderful Electric", which I only recently received & have only watched part of "Felt Mountain" - which is entirely different from the above-mentioned releases; more ethereal).

What did help to persuade me to make multiple purchases in rapid succession, was I caught a GOLDFRAPP life performance of "Train". "Strict Machine" and a couple of other songs from "Black Cherry" on youtube, a 2014 performance at Glastonbury; if I had any reservations, that dashed them & off I went on my GOLDFRAPP spree, never regretting & never looking back!!. It's stong beat-driven, Allison has a voice that sounds like an breathy, sexy angel, and the lyrics are far from angelic!!

"Silver Eye" is a logical next step from "Black Cherry' & "Supernature"....sort of combining the two & arriving somewhere in the middle. If I was pushed to make any sort of comparison, I would more likely lean toward a female Dave Gahan, lead of Depeche Mode, but sexier & bouncier (not as dark as D.P. & thank goodness...there's enough of that!!)

I think a newcomer to GOLDFRAPP could start out with SILVER EYE, or any previous release (just bearing in mind that Felt Mountain" is the one with a completely different sound. I highly recommend SILVER EYE, as well as "Black Cherry" and "Supernature"!!

Goldfrapp's best album since Felt Mountain.

This is a lovely pressing and sounds clean and rich.
Check out Tigerman for a great fidelity experience.

By far the best release in 2017: very punchy, crystal clear pressing, wide dynamic range, slick and chic at the same time
