Jonny L – Hurt You So

Top marks to the Phuture Assassins remix with its dreamy breakdowns and smart reworking of the noises in the original track. In contrast, the modern Dope Ammo remix simply sounds way too fast to me - I'll leave that one for the youngsters.

Plenty of unconfirmed rumours as to who created the 'Black Label Bootleg' mix over the years, which is of course an excellent super-charged remix with a creative arrangement. I wonder whether it was Jonny L himself, although the production doesn't really sound like him?

Curvepusher have done a fantastic job with the mastering on this release and it all sounds crisp and punchy. As another reviewer pointed out, it's kind of cool the bootleg side has a plain black label too. Thank you Kniteforce once again.

I have an original pressing but always nice to have a back up of such a whopper of a track like this one! Pressing is decent, although mine has a little warp, not bad enough to cause problems playing or cueing but I would like more flat records, pretty please pressing plants!

That is a nice touch to have a black label just like the original bootleg!

love how its got the key ring sample ( the bomb falling then explosion) i had a dj mixer with it and other shit samples on 8 fixed sounds pads like a machine gun on like those old keyrings lol

jeez this has shot up in price glad im an old skooler owning all these classics CDs under my belt I would hate starting my collection today!

Something I learnt today - The vocals in this are not a sample (typical of this era). They’re live and they were sung by Jonny L himself!

This must have sold thousands upon thousands back in 1992 but all in non chart-return shops I should imagine as t didn't spend a solitary week in the Top 75 pop chart, Bit like Baby D Let Me Be Your Fantasy before it was reissued and got to number 1 previously it had sold 250,000 over a year in 1992 or so without crossing over to the pop chart at all.It makes you think how hardcore would have dominated the charts back then if it was like today when EVERY sale is registered and goes towards the pop chart. By the way an absolute monster of a tune - it never gets old although nearly 30 years old now!
