Big Thief – Capacity

My copy sounds pretty great, much better than Dragon New Warm Mtn. Playing on a Nagoka through a Schiit phono stage.

the pressing sounds good. the record itself seems a little flimsy… but that’s not really a problem. my biggest complaint has nothing to do with the quality of the record at all, but the quality of the hype stickers. if you’re a brand that is dependent on the collectibility of your product, you should pay extra attention to the parts that collectors care about. but i’m just being particular.

The first copy I got from Rough Trade got pops throughout Mary's track and some constant but mostly insignificant surface noise. Rough Trade made it easy for me and just send me a replacement straightaway. Rough Trade usually handles customs quite well and no further fees should be applied at destination (EU's countries). This time, the new copy had no pops and some of the little surface noise also appeared here and there. It's a nice color record but mastering/pressing seems far from perfect. Apparently this is one of the best variants you can get according to comments below so don't hesitate to go for it.

Super disappointed. My copy arrived quite warped. Newbury sent out a replacement. It arrived more warped than the first copy. They dispatched a third copy. Third record was also badly warped maybe worse than the others. Seems to be zero quality control at pressing plants these days. If you want an un-warped, flat copy of Capacity, avoid this Newbury Comics edition.

Mine did not come warped! But did come covered in dust lol, also definitely dark purple but is visibly purple!

Mine skips a couple of times on Watering.
Also the pressing is so dark I thought it was black at first; and it might as well be. I’m just going to return for a refund.

EXTREMELY warped. Pathetic that this made it through the pressing plant. Gonna see if a replacement is any better.
