Show All 15 Reviews- This is a true hip hop classic. I’m amazed that it can be had so cheap still. Totally slept on. The average price will be $100 in 2023…my hot take :)
- Edited 23 days agoI would recommend whoever is interested in the D.O.C buy the expanded edition of "No One Can Do It Better". It has some video mixes and a rare b-side. Additionally if you want the full uncut experience, I'd recommend buying 'First Round Knock Out" compilation by Dr. Dre because it has a previously unreleased track from "No One Can Do It Better" called 'Bridgette' in which the D.O.C. actually does cuss and NWA stars in.
- I would have liked this on 2 x LP but to be honest sounds pretty decent to me. As with most albums that squeeze 20+ minutes on one side, it sounds a bit quiet. I feel it sounds pretty decent when played at higher volumes. I havent compared to original or recent MOV release (which sounds like it came from the same source).
- Bit of sibilance on some vocals on the grand finale and my copy skips the first 2 seconds of its funky enough, it cuts straight into him saying damn, it’s missing the ya’ll ready for this line

The track Grand Finale is censored on this release. Sad- I have a copy of this...unofficial but a great sounding press IMO. Explicit version unlike many of the 1989 releases.

Basically this is a silver repressing of the 2016 MOV black version.
That should be enough info right there but no one has given a decent overview of that one at this time. feeling obligated to contribute here....
D.O.C. was always like a West Coast Rakim to me (before the accident). At the time of this release he was pushing boundaries with lyrical complexity like Rakim, but his flow was something that would go on to change the face of hip-hop (see: The Chronic, Doggystyle and the tree of classics that spawned from there). If you’re checking this out you’re probably already familiar with how great this album is, but for those that dont know it’s worth stating that it is a masterpiece and one of the best hip-hop records out of the late 80s.
Solid Package. Double-wide spin, gloss cover, heavy jacket, a solid 180g, poly lined black sleeves, clean flat wax. Silver color scheme goes well with the cover. True to the original release in layout. It's not a deluxe package with some crazy gatefold or gimmick. it's perfect in all the ways that matter. Everything in high form.
Sounds dynamic and crissssp as hell. Sometimes it’s difficult to truly appreciate mastering details with a hip-hop record due to the layered sampling and bass. If you’re familiar with this record, Dre still hadn’t reached his landmark layered sonic sound which was fully formed on The Chronic. What he was doing that was novel at this time was replacing samples with live instruments. Here you have a lot of isolated drums, guitars, and pianos. And that’s where the mastering shines. Dead wax is quiet and there’s no surface noise. Yellas drums pop, especially on Comm. Blues and Comm. 2. Very rich and dynamic sounding. Hell even the Funkadelic sample on D.O.C & The Doctor sounds better than my copy of Good Ole Music on wax. There’s no trace of sibilance (which is all over the Get On Down release). And yes, The mutha fuckin Grand Finale is unedited. Huge wins all around for MOV here with the sound.
My expectation for a remastered/reissued hip-hop vinyl is that it should sound as good as the CD. but often i am disappointed. This is one of the few times were I feel like it actually sounds better than my digital/CD copy. Impressed with this MOV release. I wish there were more Hip-Hop reissues like this that focus primarily on this sound and getting it close to “audiophile” grade instead of trying to cash in on other less significant details. MOV isn't a flawless shop but they turned out a definitive version here. referencing No One Can Do It Better (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Repress, Silver, 180g) MOVLP1760
Any word on the audio quality? 3 more words s- Edited 2 years agoThis release has been sold back in the days in several record stores. I just picked it up and never took time to listen to this release. I also never noticed this release is an unofficial release and also did not notice the blurry picture until now. Instead of the original LP release, this one is a double vinyl which sounds really great. Bass is tight with good treble and mids. Unless my disappointment in buying an unofficial release at a record store back in the days, this pressing is sound wise a really good pick.
